The Role
Step into a top-tier legal team and fast track your career in planning and environment law. You’ll gain exposure to high profile cases opening doors to senior positions and courts across the EU. You’ll build your advocacy skills by handling Superior Court litigation, including Court of Appeal, Supreme Court and CJEU matters. This will give you a chance to shape major legal decisions and grow your reputation as a leading lawyer in this area. You’ll also advise regulatory and licensing bodies on complex enforcement issues, framing and prosecuting cases that will sharpen your litigation and advisory skills.
Managing a large caseload of complex planning and environmental matters will develop your client management and strategic thinking. You’ll provide critical advice on statutory interpretation and legal developments, keeping clients ahead of the curve and strengthening your expertise in a specialised field. You’ll also have opportunities to support business development by speaking at seminars and presenting to clients, raising your profile in the industry.
Advise on challenges to planning decisions, including managing the defence of judicial review applications for statutory bodies. You’ll instruct Counsel, attend Court and provide strategic advice to clients. You’ll also prosecute offences in the District Court, drafting charges, advising clients and advocating without Counsel when needed.
The Person
* 5+PQE in planning, environment or related fields
* Litigation experience, especially in judicial review
* A strong commercial focus, excellent drafting skills and the ability to build trusted client relationships
