High Voltage Substation Maintenance Supervisor
We have exciting opportunities for a High Voltage Substation Maintenance Supervisor to join Suir Engineering. The right candidate will possess the technical knowledge and experience required to serve as Person In Charge of Work (PICW) within ESB HV Substation environments, with a minimum Level 2 ESB PICW Approval.
Responsibilities
Lead and supervise a team of high voltage substation maintenance technicians.
Provide guidance, training, and mentorship to ensure a high level of technical competency within the team.
Foster a safety‑conscious culture and ensure compliance with all relevant safety standards and regulations.
Oversee the routine inspection, testing, and maintenance of high voltage electrical systems and equipment.
Coordinate and deliver preventive maintenance programs to minimise downtime and maximise equipment reliability.
Troubleshoot and diagnose issues in high voltage systems, ensuring timely and effective resolution.
Ensure proper installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of control wiring and associated components.
Manage and execute high voltage maintenance projects, including planning, resource allocation, and project timelines.
Collaborate with engineering teams to implement improvements and upgrades to the high voltage infrastructure.
Maintain accurate and up‑to‑date documentation of maintenance activities, equipment condition, and compliance records.
Develop and implement emergency response procedures for high voltage incidents and lead the team in responding to emergency situations.
Qualifications
Electrical trade qualification.
Relevant ESB PICW Approvals (Level 2 minimum) for the role of PICW for high voltage substation maintenance.
Location of work varies between Munster / Leinster; must be willing to travel.
Proven experience in a supervisory role within a high voltage substation environment.
In‑depth knowledge of high voltage electrical systems, equipment, and control wiring.
Skilled in using testing equipment and diagnostic tools.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to convey technical information to both technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to motivate and manage a team effectively.
Strong commitment to safety practices and procedures.
Familiarity with safety regulations governing high voltage systems.
