Overview
Our client, a manufacturer of battery energy storage systems, is seeking a talented Electrical Engineer to join their expanding team. The company is at the forefront of Ireland’s renewable energy transition, providing innovative and reliable solutions for a variety of applications, both on and off-grid. Their cutting-edge technology is helping to shape the future of energy storage in Ireland and beyond.
Role Overview
You will play a key role in designing, testing, and implementing electrical systems for battery energy storage solutions. This role offers the opportunity to work on innovative projects that support renewable energy adoption and grid decarbonisation.
Key Responsibilities
System Design & Engineering

Design and develop electrical systems for Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS), including inverters and power distribution.
Produce single-line diagrams, wiring schematics, and test protocols.
Conduct power system analyses to support potential customer projects.

Testing & Integration

Support factory acceptance testing (FAT) and on-site installation of BESS projects.
Ensure compliance with grid code requirements, safety regulations, and industry standards (IEC, IEEE).
Troubleshoot electrical and control system issues during assembly, installation, and commissioning.

Project Execution & Collaboration

Develop and implement standard operating procedures for assembly and testing of products.
Coordinate with utilities, grid operators, and clients for interconnection requirements.
Provide technical support throughout project execution, installation, and ongoing maintenance.

Compliance & Safety

Ensure all designs meet Irish and EU electrical regulations.
Conduct risk assessments and safety evaluations for electrical components and installations.
Stay up to date with emerging energy storage technologies and industry best practices.

Key Requirements

Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
Minimum 3 years’ experience in power systems, electrical design, or BESS-related engineering.
Proficiency in electrical design software.
Understanding of grid connection requirements in Ireland and EU energy regulations.
Knowledge of battery technologies, including cell types and battery management systems.
Ability to perform technical analyses and power studies.
Strong problem-solving skills and hands-on experience with electrical troubleshooting.
Excellent communication and teamwork skills.

Desirable

Experience with renewable energy systems (solar, wind) and microgrids.
Professional certifications (e.g., Chartered Engineer, Certified Energy Storage Professional).
Familiarity with energy markets, demand response, and grid services.
