Scope of the Role: This role is to be an SAP over DCRF Retrofits projects in Ireland, Uk and Mainland Europe. The role is Irish based preferably with site visits to complete audits and inspections. Key Responsibilities of the Role: Manage the electrical and mechanical testing teams to ensure the require testing has been performed in accordance with the site operating procedures and standards. Manage the site Electrical systems of working for LOTO and Permitting Manage the staff working controlling the electrical and mechanical systems are authorised for the works and qualified to carry out the work requested of them. Authorise the signing of permits to work on or around live systems. Maintain and control the LOTO systems to ensure the control of hazardous systems are maintained for the system in accordance with the site procedures. Establish the control of area permits to access live areas. Authorising of Energisation requests for medium voltage and low voltage systems Authorises Isolation Permits and Certification for MV Systems Cancel Permits should a hazard or safety issue arise. Co-ordinate with the commissioning team to ensure the timely and safe energisation of the live systems. Work with the site safety management to maintain the Mercury safe systems of work. Maintain the safety records for all energisations and isolations in accordance with the site electrical safe systems of work. Work with the clients authorising energy marshal and establish an energisation strategy for the site. Completing Medium Voltage Switching Plans and reviewing sub-contractors plans Identify high risk activities and establish a high-risk activity plan. Develop a detailed energisation plan for the site to identify the strategy and sequence to safety energise the equipment in line with the project program. Work with the utility provider where required to coordinate the energisation of the site supplies. Attend site commissioning meetings to ensure the close coordination of the commissioning team and energy marshals. Ensure that the electrical and mechanical safety equipment has been purchased for the tasks required and is maintained and controlled by the authorising persons. Establishing with the Engineering team a centralized Lockout Tag Out (LOTO) procedure and determining if a group or individual LOTO procedure will be required. Commencement of energy isolation activities with updates on a continuous basis. Participating in high-risk activity (HRA) planning meetings associated with energy isolation. Ensuring high-risk statements of work, standard operating procedures and method of procedures (MOPs) are reviewed, and all sources of energy are identified. Ensuring a process is established that verifies qualifications, training, and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for personnel performing the work. Generating monthly reports highlighting activities and general status of energy isolation program. Ensuring all personnel are well-informed about and adhere to the Electrical Safe Systems of Work. Provide switching plans in accordance with pre-agreed project programs and liaise with the client CX agent. Achieve safety from the system and issue of safety documents in accordance with specific Authorisation levels and client requirements. Implementation and Audit of Safe Work Practices Associated with Energizations & Isolations Establishment of Consistency Around Project Team Energizations and Isolations Providing Detailed Reporting to Client Team on Safety or Progress Related Matters Participation in Planning Meetings to Ensure Coordinated Energizations and Isolations All other duties associated with this role and/or reasonably required by the Company the Company reserves the right to vary the scope and nature of the Employee's normal duties to take into account changes in the Company's work patterns and practices and the requirements of its business. Essential Criteria Relevant 3rd level certificates in Electrical Engineering, Building Services Engineering, or an Electrical Trade with relevant training and experience. A minimum of 10+ years' experience in a similar role within an electrical contracting environment, including Commercial, Industrial, pharma, and data centre projects. Experience working on LV/MV/HV systems and Electrical Testing & Verification. A strong understanding of construction and safety requirements. Proficient analytical problem-solving skills with a focus on EHS and Quality Work Management Systems and Processes. Excellent comprehension and interpretation of Project Specifications, Drawings, SLD's, Cable Solutions, and Data Sheets. Proficiency in earthing arrangements and configurations, Busbar, busway systems, and interlocking of secondary energy sources. Knowledge of discrimination study application for Short circuit/overload protection and earth/line fault currents. Familiarity with FAT/SAT reporting for Electrical Switchgear philosophy and appreciation of Switchgear forms and separations. Good understanding of control systems such as Scada/BMS/EMS, narrating LV/MV switching plans, and carrying out switching and isolating of Medium Voltage Systems. Experience in managing energization/start-up of systems, including working on live systems. Have experience in the control of hazardous energy in complex mission-critical infrastructure Have experience with industrial or commercial field engineering in mission-critical facilities and electrical infrastructures Are an excellent communicator verbally and in writing Mercury is an equal opportunities employer .
