THE ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
For this role, EDC is looking for a Senior Engineer who can lead change and mentor engineers within their team, ensuring best-in-class engineering.
As a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer, you will have a thorough understanding of the theoretical and practical application of mechanical engineering and a strong understanding of other disciplines offered by the company, while leading and managing the full mechanical design on projects of all sizes.Key responsibilitiesLead and manage full mechanical design on projects of all sizes, always demonstrating client care.Provide quality control for mechanical engineering projects across all offices.Undertake project cost control.Manage both project teams and cross-functional teams within the organisational structure.Travel to client and project locations as required to represent EDC for meetings, surveys and training.Follow EDC's Environmental Management System (EMS), including all related environmental policies, procedures and training, performing duties in a manner that supports the company's environmental objectives and sustainability commitments.Liaise and collaborate with other EDC offices as appropriate.EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCEMinimum degree level in Mechanical Engineering6+ years' Building Services Consultancy Design experienceExpert user of Microsoft OfficeExperience with thermal modelling, energy assessment and dynamic energy modelling software advantageousCommercial sector knowledge and BIM experience a strong advantageChartership desirableKNOWLEDGE AND SKILLSProven experience delivering detailed designs through the full design cycleExpert knowledge and experience in: water services, heating/LTHW, HVAC, fuel, above-ground drainage and BMSDeep knowledge of Irish Building Regulations, particularly TGD Parts B, F, G, L, and ability to demonstrate this knowledge in design and project leadershipAbility to work on several projects simultaneously and to prioritise and plan workAbility to lead projects internally and externally and be responsible for project performance, including client satisfaction, profitability and maintaining EDC's reputation for repeat workGood understanding of other building disciplines in the design and installation of buildingsLeadership qualities while working as part of a teamAbility to make prompt, disciplined project decisionsExcellent attention to detail and interpersonal skillsCommercial awarenessBENEFITSCompetitive salaryPaid overtime / time in lieu / flexitimePerformance and development management, including annual salary reviews and annual performance-related bonus paymentWellbeing allowancePension scheme and death in serviceLife balance daysEducational supportOne extra week's paid leave on reaching 5th anniversaryWhilst working with EDC you will feel like you belong and have every opportunity to get involved and make an immediate impact.
