Reporting to the Estimating Supervisor, you will be a key member of the Commercial and Estimating department and cross-functional teams within Merlyn.
Key Responsibilities
The primary duties include (not in any specific order):
1. Product Expertise & Market Intelligence: Develop deep knowledge of product design, features, pricing, and routes to market; benchmark against competitors to identify gaps and opportunities.
2. Commercial Performance Analysis: Understand category performance through sales, revenue, and margin data; inform pricing and range decisions.
3. New Product Introduction (NPI) Support: Support projects from concept to launch, including defining business cases and market positioning.
4. Tender & OEM Project Ownership: Lead proposals and projects from start to finish, coordinating internally and with customers.
5. Portfolio Management & Category Strategy: Analyze product performance for pricing, SKU, and marketing adjustments; support lifecycle planning.
6. Pricing Analysis & Strategy: Conduct breakeven and margin analysis; develop proposals to optimize pricing strategies.
7. Competitor & Market Benchmarking: Track and share insights on competitor activities and product movements.
8. Customer Insight & Market Feedback: Gather and translate customer feedback into product requirements.
9. Customer File and Range Management: Maintain accurate pricing files and coordinate updates with sales.
10. Technical Communication & Stakeholder Influence: Communicate complex ideas clearly to diverse audiences.
11. Trade Events & Representation: Represent Merlyn at industry events to enhance visibility and relationships.
12. Flexible Project Support: Support various projects demonstrating teamwork.
13. Customer Visit Support: Assist with customer visits, ensuring a professional experience.
Qualifications/Education
Essential Skills & Experience
* Category and product management experience.
* Success in managing product categories.
* Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
* Good organizational skills with diplomacy and problem-solving abilities.
* Excellent presentation skills and commercial acumen.
* Numerical competency, especially in pricing and margins.
* Proficiency in data analysis, especially Excel.
Desirable Skills & Experience
* Experience in bathroom or consumer durables markets.
* Market research experience.
* Full product lifecycle management experience.
* Technical product knowledge and competitor analysis skills.
* Customer-centric approach.
* Knowledge of Product Marketing systems (PIM).
* Degree in management or business or equivalent.
