Permanent full‑time (35 hrs/week) and temporary part‑time (0.7 wte – 49 hrs/week for one year) posts within the Children’s Disability Network Team 7 at East Cork City, based in Carrigtwohill, Co. Cork.
The role provides assessment, diagnostic and therapeutic interventions as part of an interdisciplinary team supporting children and young people aged 0–18 years and their families. The focus is on maximizing the child/young adult’s full potential within the family and community context, empowering parents/care‑givers and family members.
Responsibilities:
Assessment, diagnosis and therapeutic interventions for children with complex needs arising from disability.
Collaborate with an interdisciplinary team under the HSE national model “Progressing Disability Services for Children and Young People”.
Support families and community in empowering parents/care‑givers.
Qualifications:
Professional qualifications:
Professional qualification as per the Department of Health guidelines (see full criteria).
University degree or diploma (QQI Level 8 equivalent) with 1st or 2nd class honours in psychology as major and honours in that subject, AND
Irish postgraduate professional psychology qualification accredited by the Psychological Society of Ireland in Clinical, Counselling or Educational Psychology, OR an equivalent qualification from another jurisdiction validated by the Department of Health, AND
At least five years satisfactory postgraduate experience in professional psychology, with no more than three years spent gaining the postgraduate professional qualification, and at least two years full‑time post‑qualification experience. Time beyond the allowed three years for training or not worked will not count toward the five‑year experience.
Driving licence: Must have a full driving licence and means of transport that qualifies for driving on Irish roads.
Additional requirements:
Age: 70 years is the compulsory retirement age under the Public Service Superannuation Act, 2018 for most public servants. New entrants between 1 Apr 2004 and 31 Dec 2012 have no compulsory retirement age; those recruited since 1 Jan 2013 have 70 years.
Health: Must be fully competent and capable of undertaking the duties, and in a state of health allowing efficient service.
Character: Must be of good character.
Salary and benefits: €99,488 – €116,942 per annum (including 2 LSI’s) and pro‑rata for part‑time role. Successful candidates must submit documentary evidence of relevant experience within three months of the start date.
Reporting to: Children’s Disability Network Manager. The Head of Discipline will provide clinical supervision.
