Overview
Retail Department Manager – Cork City. Salary €38,000 – €40,000 plus 10% yearly bonus. Contracted hours 40. Pension. Staff discount.
Responsibilities
Support senior management to drive department sales, store standards, and team performance.
Ensure full compliance with company policies and procedures across your team.
Manage department stock and inventory, proactively investigating discrepancies and coaching staff on best practices.
Drive customer engagement and sales through creative merchandising, promotions, and displays.
Take full ownership of your department(s), leading, motivating, and developing your team while managing schedules, stock, and customer feedback.
Handle customer queries and complaints in line with company policies.
Lead store operations during shifts, including opening/closing and ensuring smooth day‑to‑day running of the store.
Act as a point of contact for staff queries, grievances, and performance management.
Requirements
3+ years' retail management experience, ideally in a fast‑paced, customer‑focused environment.
Confident team leader who can motivate staff, manage performance, and professionally de‑escalate issues.
Strong understanding of retail systems, sales analysis, stock control, and ordering large/bulky products.
Thrives in a busy, high‑pressure retail environment with constantly changing priorities.
Excellent organisation and time‑management skills.
Flexible to work management shifts, including openings and closes (typically 9am‑9pm).
