Please email ****** to discuss any accommodations required. About the National Sepsis Programme Sepsis is a potentially life threatening complication of an infection that can affect anyone of any age.
It is more common in the very young, the elderly or those with a weakened immune system.
Not every infection progresses to Sepsis, but healthcare professionals are encouraged to ask Could this be Sepsis?Internationally, approaches to Sepsis management care are based on early recognition of Sepsis, with resuscitation and timely referral to critical care reporting reductions in mortality from Sepsis and septic shock of 20-30%.
Approximately 70% of Sepsis cases arise in the community and represent a time-dependent medical emergency.The Sepsis programme at the Irish College of GPs is a collaboration with the National Sepsis Programme and the GP Clinical Leads in this area who work closely with the Medical Directorate and the Research Policy and Information teams.Job Purpose Key Result Areas 1.Coordinate the Sepsis workstream projects and reconciling their interdependencies a) Lead and manage the ongoing development and implementation of the Sepsis programme for general practice.b) Prepare an overall programme plan and monitor implementation.c) Manage programme risks and issues and take corrective action.d) Manage and use resources across projects effectively. e) Work collaboratively with relevant staff to develop and deliver the key workstreams.
f) Maintain accurate data on programme implementation and liaise with the programme team to provide updates and reports in a timely manner.g) Prepare reports on any associated service level agreements.
h) Adhere to GDPR and ensure that College privacy and related policy is followed in relation to data and processing of same.i) Prepare submissions, including costings, that identify sources of funding to ensure sustainability of the programme.j) Support the Medical Directorate in aligning business practices, analysis and reporting requirements for other SLA programmes within the Irish College of GPs.2.
Providing strategic guidancea) Advise the Medical Director and team on matters pertaining to the programme ensuring alignment to overall College strategy.
b) Oversee evaluation of the programme, identify and manage issues that may arise according to standard College processes.
c) Promote and support research into issues related to the overall programme and the different workstreams.d) Represent the Irish College of GPs with relevant external stakeholders.
e) Present on the programme at relevant meetings and conferences, as required.3.
Facilitating communication across the programmea) Manage internal and external stakeholder engagement including communication with GPs and GP practices.
b) Liaise with the programme's subject experts to develop the education programme for GPs and structures to support greater awareness of Sepsis in general practice.
c) Proactively participate in the Performance Management (Job Chats) process.
d) Seek to nurture a high performing, cohesive team.Person Specification Qualifications and experience A relevant 3rd level degree/postgraduate qualification.
Experience of programme management, delivering change and/or quality improvement initiatives in a healthcare related environment or other complex service delivery organisations.
Experience of establishing and leading development of initiatives, from concepts to programme plans on a cross-organisational and/or cross-functional basis.Experience of preparing and writing business cases and project management plans, and project methodology processes for quality improvement projects.
Experience of managing and working collaboratively, cross functionally with multiple internal and external stakeholders as relevant to this role.Knowledge Must have an in-depth knowledge of the Irish healthcare system, in particular general practice.Proven knowledge of change management principles.Skills Thorough understanding of project management techniques and methods.Effective problem solving and decision-making skills.Strong interpersonal skills that include emotional intelligence, discretion, influencing strategies, negotiating skills and experience liaising with representatives of external organisations.Proven ability to build trust and manage key strategic relationships at all levels within a diverse stakeholder group.Able to demonstrate excellent knowledge of MS Office including those used for online communications.Excellent ICT skills with capacity to maximise technology to increase efficiencies, for example, virtual learning platform, online record management systems.
Behavioural Competencies A high degree of adaptability and resilience.
