We are looking for a
Substation Engineer
with experience in HV/MV transmission and distribution networks, responsible for the design, installation, and maintenance of high‑voltage substation infrastructure across Ireland.
Responsibilities
* Support the design and development of HV/MV substations, including switchgear (AIS/GIS), transformers, cables, earthing, and protection systems.
* Prepare technical reports, drawings, and design documentation for project delivery.
* Liaise with EirGrid, ESB Networks, contractors, and suppliers throughout all project stages.
* Ensure compliance with HSQE, PSCS/PSDP regulations, and project safety requirements.
* Assist with onsite installation, testing, and commissioning of substation equipment.
* Review tender documents and contribute to designs, technical inputs, and value engineering.
* Conduct equipment inspections and ensure all installations meet required standards.
Requirements
* Level 6 degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
* Experience working on LV/MV/HV networks and substation projects.
* Strong understanding of EirGrid/ESB standards, HV safety procedures, and Irish grid requirements.
* Valid Safe Pass, Manual Handling, and related certifications (for site roles).
* Strong communication skills and ability to coordinate with multidisciplinary teams.
* Full driving licence and willingness to travel to sites as required.
