Managing Quantity Surveyor – Dublin Port Project
A Managing Quantity Surveyor is required to join Ireland's leading multi-disciplinary Engineering and Construction company. The role involves efficiently managing all commercial aspects of the Dublin Port project and maintaining regular liaison with all stakeholders.
Responsibilities
Team Management and Development
Assist with recruitment and staffing structure/ utilisation for direct reports.
Build a team, develop personal plans, establish objectives/targets for all direct reports and monitor performance.
Delegate appropriate work to staff while maintaining accountability.
Ensure site teams adhere to group procedures and governance.
Commercial Service Delivery
Collate, analyse & challenge Cost/Value Reports and forecasts, implementing required actions.
Design and implement a commercial strategy for the portfolio and tenders with assistance from the functional manager.
Ensure Commercial Practitioners administer contracts correctly, timely and professionally.
Identify, mitigate and manage risks & opportunities for the portfolio of work.
Assist in training Commercial Practitioners, acting as mentor/supervisor for staff with APC or equivalent.
Encourage a culture of contractual & commercial awareness on all projects.
Review all contractual obligations and commercial risks before tender submission.
Maximise cash position: WIP control, cash flow production & improvement plans for all projects.
Advise on insurance-related issues, including PI.
Ensure a margin improvement plan exists on each project.
Support work‑winning duties: proactive release of team members, attendance at client presentations for tender interviews.
Maintain optimum performance of the commercial team, reviewing margin gains and resource forecasting.
Handle client disputes with assistance.
Monitor outturn costs on a monthly basis through detailed, bottom‑up costed forecasts.
Undertake any other work as required by the Commercial Director.
Requirements
Safe Pass at appropriate level
Proven Management Skills
Chartered Quantity Surveyor (MRICS) or equivalent – desirable
Commercially astute with substantial experience in a construction industry commercial role; behavioural training experience.
Excellent knowledge of Standard Forms of Contract and Standard Methods of Measurement
Understanding of programming techniques and project controls
Computer literate with strong Microsoft Office skills (Word/Excel/Outlook/PowerPoint)
Full driving licence
