As a Business Systems Engineer at Qumulo in Cork, you will be a foundational member of the team that builds and operates the systems powering Qumulo’s revenue and customer infrastructure, such as consumption metering, cloud marketplace integration, and customer usage management. You will own production code that handles real money and customer trust, building cloud‑native, serverless integrations across AWS and Azure, and partnering closely with our Business Systems and Sales Operations teams to translate business needs into reliable, well‑engineered software.
Responsibilities
Design, build, and operate the consumption metering pipelines that ingest customer usage and submit rated usage to AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud marketplaces.
Develop and maintain serverless logic across AWS (Lambda, EventBridge, SNS, SQS) and Azure (Functions, Storage, Application Insights), with modern Python at the core.
Act as technical owner of the metering codebase: drive code review, testing, CI/CD, and infrastructure‑as‑code standards, and lead rebuilds where structurally needed.
Participate in an on‑call rotation for the metering and submission pipeline. Submission to the marketplace is part of the product, and it cannot go down.
Identify and mitigate risks across the system, from operational gaps to architectural weaknesses.
Partner with the Nexus product team to ship customer‑facing features: live balances, accurate usage, burn‑rate forecasting, and what‑if scenarios.
Work directly with Business Systems, Sales Operations, Finance, and Customer Success to translate non‑technical requirements into shipped software.
Lead the technical relationship with external SaaS partners and transition critical systems in‑house when reliability and velocity call for it.
Qualifications
3+ years of software engineering experience ideally including integrations with billing platforms, cloud marketplaces, or payment providers.
Deep, hands‑on Python expertise: modern module development, library management, scripting, and tooling.
Production experience with AWS serverless and event‑driven services (Lambda, EventBridge, SNS, SQS), and Azure serverless and storage services (Functions, Storage, Application Insights).
Strong experience integrating with REST APIs and external SDKs in production. Familiarity with microservice patterns, particularly for AI integrations.
Production reliability mindset: you've been on‑call for systems that mattered and understand alerting, idempotency, retries, and observability. Willingness to join an on‑call rotation is required.
Strong written and verbal communication skills, with a track record of working directly with non‑technical stakeholders.
Hands‑on experience using modern AI developer tools to ship faster without compromising code quality or security.
A Bachelor's or Master's in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related field.
