Position Description
Networks Telecoms are responsible for the design, delivery, and operation of ESB Networks' National Telecommunications Infrastructure.
The Telecoms Service & Deployment Teams – Central & Southeast – are responsible for the safe installation, support, and maintenance of telecoms technologies such as data traffic multiplexers, microwave radio links, SCADA UHF polling radio, satellite, tele-protection schemes, IP networks, telephony services, and other Telecoms equipment nationwide. The successful candidates will play a key role in the safe deployment, operation, maintenance, and future growth of ESB's national telecommunications network.
On-Call or Availability may be a feature of this role.
Key Responsibilities
- Support and maintain telecoms equipment and infrastructure
- Coordinate with 3rd party contractors and equipment partners
- Support, maintain, and fault find DC Power and UPS standby power systems
- Implement and support SCADA and Protection systems
- Provide project management support for telecommunications projects within ESB Networks, ESB Group, and EirGrid
Experience and Qualifications
- Either a 3rd Level qualification (NFQ Level 6/7) in electrical, telecommunications, or IT discipline or a minimum of 2 years relevant work experience
- Full driving license
- Safety-focused approach
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Good communication and organizational skills
- Accuracy, thoroughness, and attention to detail
- Adaptability and flexibility
- Health & Safety experience/qualification
- Experience working on electrical systems
- Experience with safety documentation preparation
- Awareness of telecommunications technologies
- Familiarity with HV environments
Location
This position will be based in ESB Networks Athlone & Leopardstown, with flexible reporting locations considered within these regions.
ESB promotes smart working—combining digital tools with a culture of trust and empowerment for flexible working arrangements. The successful candidate may work flexibly within their jurisdiction, attending the workplace for in-person collaboration at least once a week. All arrangements are subject to manager approval and ongoing review based on operational needs.

Salary: €40,000 - €47,000 annually
