Engineering Manager Role Engineering Management Position is responsible for leading, coaching and developing a mix of internal and externally contracted multi-skilled maintenance and engineering colleagues across the Musgrave estate enabling and building strong internal capabilities. Support engineering related projects and lead day-to-day coordination and management of engineering activities related to material handling equipment (MHE) and automation activities (hardware) across the Musgrave Supply Chain sites. What youll be doing: Key responsibilities : Promoting health, safety and environmental excellence across all engineering and maintenance activities and leading with strong safety mindset. Manage procurement of equipment, budgeting, specification, price negotiation and writing supporting business case. Plan, oversee and optimise all preventative and reactive maintenance activities to minimise plant downtime and ensure operational continuity. Manage equipment runtimes and maximise usage of equipment across sites to ensure assets are sweated and best use is made of equipment assets. Management of engineering workshops and spares / stocks to ensure best practice and safe methods are in place. Control engineering budgets, optimise resource allocation and produce annual engineering P&L maintenance and repairs budgets. Model equipment usage within the sites and work with depot managers to ensure the most cost-effective measures and are in place. Manage maintenance contacts to ensure that the equipment is safe and legal, agreed uptime KPI's are being met and that all servicing / PPMs are completed on schedule. Monitor and report on KPIs, maintenance performance, and ensure strict compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements. Support and where agreed lead capital projects, long-term asset strategy, contractor management, and plant upgrades as necessary. Work closely with cross functional project teams to offer technical support and to ensure that equipment is provided on time and as cost effective as possible. Support development of training material, policy and procedures, safe systems of work and risk assessments. Lead projects to achieve cost savings objectives. Provide support to each depot on day-to-day issues. Support Development team in the identification and progression of projects relating to automation Contribute to identification of innovation in materials handling and warehouse automation What were looking for: The Ideal Candidate Will Have: Proven engineering / maintenance management experience in industrial environment with high levels of materials handling and process automation High level of technical ability and a good mechanical and electrical knowledge of equipment and processes. Minimum of 3-5 years experience in a similar Engineering Management or Engineering / Maintenance leadership role. A recognised qualification in Mechanical, Electrical, or Industrial Engineering, or a Fitter trade background with demonstrated leadership progression. Strong leadership, team development, and communication skills with a practical, hands-on approach to problem-solving. Demonstrated experience in maintenance planning, asset management, and engineering compliance. Practical understanding of engineering legislation and modern maintenance methodologies. Excellent communication, interpersonal, and stakeholder management skills. Ability to analyse situations and troubleshoot/problem solve as required Proven track record in delivering capital projects and managing third-party contractors. Strong commercial acumen with the ability to manage budgets and resources effectively. Certification or practical experience with Lean Six Sigma, or a demonstrable track record in driving continuous improvement initiatives.
