We are currently recruiting a night porter to join our team here at Killaloe Hotel and Spa. Killaloe is a picturesque tourist town in Co. Clare twinned with Ballina on the Tipperary side straddling the River Shannon. Killaloe is well-known for its fishing and boating activities. The hotel is approximately 1.2 km from the centre of Killaloe. The hotel overlooks the Kincora Marina which has direct boating access to Lough Derg / The River Shannon.
The property comprises of a substantial modern hotel having 35 en suite bedrooms, lounge, function room, kitchen, bar, reception, and ancillary areas. The property has a commanding view over Lough Derg to the rear with ample car-parking and gardens to the front. The property has been refurbished throughout and is finished to a very high standard.
Job Description:
As a Night Porter, you will be responsible for the smooth running of the night-time operations of the hotel. You will be mainly responsible for the security of the hotel building and its guests. This position is part-time and will require the employee to work alone during the night.
Key Duties and Responsibilities Include:
· Completing security procedures and maintaining responsibility of the security of the hotel building and its guests. Ensuring the safety of the persons and the property of all within the premises.
· Being fully aware of, and acting in accordance with all fire, health and safety, hygiene, and emergency procedures.
· Check in of late arrivals and check out of early departures acting in accordance with all front office policies and procedures and working with our property management system.
· Completion of night audit duties, in addition to conducting regular security checks and night walks.
· Distributing an efficient handover to early reception team detailing issues, and anything that needs to be followed up on.
· Undertaking of regular cleaning duties including all public areas and meeting rooms, including daily checks of the outside of the hotel and cleaning as appropriate, ensuring all public areas are kept to the highest standards of maintenance and cleanliness.
· Maintaining an up-to-date knowledge of hotel operations, products, and hotel layout.
· Reporting of all issues that occur and remaining vigilant at all times.
· Answering the phone and taking reservations as required.
· Serving drinks as required.
· Remaining customer service focused while having a friendly, courteous, and professional manner at all times.
· Remaining flexible and assisting other departments where required.
The Candidate:
· Previous experience in a similar role within the hospitality industry is preferred but not essential.
· Must be available to work between the hours of 23:00 and 07:30 on weekdays and weekends, including public holidays.
· Competent level of IT skills required.
· Flexibility to work in various tasks / departments.
· Ability to work alone or as part of a team.
· Excellent customer service skills required.
· Positive and friendly attitude essential.
· Very good level of written and spoken English is essential for this role.
