Overview
We’re working with a global financial technology organisation building out a high-impact engineering team in Ireland. This is a backend role focused on designing and delivering scalable, low-latency systems used in critical financial workflows. This is a high-visibility position where your work will directly contribute to onboarding new European clients and shaping core platform capabilities.
Responsibilities
Designing and building high-performance backend services using Java and Spring Boot
Working on real-time, event-driven systems handling complex transaction flows
Contributing to new client onboarding, customisation, and platform integration
Collaborating with cross-functional teams in a fast-paced delivery environment
Driving performance, scalability, and reliability improvements across services
Engaging with senior stakeholders and providing regular project updates
Qualifications
2-4+ years experience in backend development
Strong Java experience with Spring Boot
Experience building microservices and distributed systems
Exposure to event-driven architecture (Kafka or similar)
Solid understanding of APIs (REST/gRPC) and system design
Experience working in enterprise or financial services environments is a plus
