Role Overview
The Support Worker reports to the Team Leader and plays a key role in creating a safe, secure environment where individuals participate in community and leisure activities, make choices and enjoy a lifestyle that meets their potential and expectations. Candidates should be innovative, creative, visionary and flexible to adapt to the needs of individuals supported on a daily basis.
Reporting / Responsibility
Reports to Team Leader.
Qualifications
Good general education; recognised qualification in intellectual disability or a FETAC Level 5 course an advantage. Full manual driving licence, or Class D1 licence obtainable, required. Fluency in verbal and written English required.
Experience
Experience working with individuals with intellectual disability, challenging behaviour; previous health care sector experience essential. Experience with autism, complex medical needs, and mental health an advantage.
Skills
Demonstrated flexibility, communication, team‑working skills, enthusiasm, and IT skills.
Working Hours
78 hours per fortnight over four weeks; 7‑day duty roster including sleepovers, split shifts, day and night duty, public holidays, weekends. 22 days per annum.
Remuneration
Pay: Department of Health Care Assistant (Disability Services) scale 01‑Feb‑2026 – €34,536 to €47,152 (capped). Long Service Increment €47,954 after 3 years. Additional payments for weekends, public holidays, night duty.

Probation
9‑month probationary period; may terminate during probation; may extend at employer’s discretion.
