We have an exciting opportunity for an electrical estimating assistant to join our dynamic estimating team in Cork.
Key Responsibilities
Support the estimating team in preparing cost estimates for electrical works including materials, labour, plant, and subcontractor services.
Maintain accurate and well-organised records of all project documentation—drawings, specifications, quotations, and cost sheets.
Assist in the tendering process by ensuring all documentation is properly logged, tracked, and up to date.
Analyse project drawings and technical specifications to identify scope and cost requirements.
Engage with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain quotations and clarify technical details.
Work collaboratively with senior estimators to update cost databases, benchmark pricing, and improve estimation methodologies.
Ensure all estimating work complies with company procedures, health and safety requirements, and relevant standards.
Contribute to tender reviews and continuous improvement initiatives.
Skills & Competencies
Strong organisational and document control skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel; familiarity with Maximo or estimating software is an advantage.
Excellent numerical, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.
Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and electrical schematics.
Clear and professional communication skills, both written and verbal.
High attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
Team-oriented with a positive and proactive approach to learning.
Qualifications & Experience
Degree in Electrical Engineering, Building Services Engineering, Quantity Surveying (MEP focus), or a related field.
Previous internship or work placement experience in construction, engineering, or estimating is desirable.
Understanding of tendering procedures and construction contracts is advantageous.
