Overview of Role
We are currently seeking a Senior Microsoft Applications Developer for our client based in Dublin 1. You'll be reporting to the Head of Microsoft Applications Architecture within the Client's Information, Communications, and Technology department. The role calls for solid experience in the architecture, design, and development of Microsoft applications. This includes maintaining Power BI reports, Power Apps, and Power Automate solutions, as well as working with Dynamics 365, SharePoint, and other technologies within the Microsoft stack.
The role will involve working closely with ICT stakeholders, including the Project Management Office, Technical Architects, Business Analysts, Software Testing, and ICT Operations teams. You'll be responsible for delivering technical application assessments, as well as design and development expertise, across a broad range of projects.
As the Senior Microsoft Applications Developer, you'll be expected to undertake Business-As-Usual duties and provide application support, while also taking part in a wide variety of projects. These may include in-house system development, business intelligence and data analytics initiatives, and third-party system integrations.
You'll be working alongside internal business stakeholders from areas such as Treasury, Finance, Claims Management, Investment Funds, and State-backed lending schemes. Given the close collaboration required with both business and ICT teams, the role demands strong technical knowledge and the capability to deliver solutions that align with business needs and the current technology stack. This will be a 23-month fixed term contract and will be hybrid with 3 days per week in the office.
Role & Responsibilities:
Support the business
* Assist with the planning and implementation of software version upgrades.
* Provide ongoing support for the applications overseen by the team.
* Offer guidance to the Business Units on projects involving Microsoft business applications.
* Advise on system performance matters and deliver solutions to address any issues.
* Liaise with Microsoft Corporation and external partners regarding technical support.
Design, develop, maintain, and enhance software solutions
* Develop, manage, and adhere to recognised industry development principles, standards, and templates, promoting consistency throughout the solution development life-cycle.
* Write clean, scalable, and maintainable code, ensuring the development aligns with the intended design and established standards.
* Prototype and implement solutions across a range of system architectures.
* Translate business requirements into effective and practical system designs.
* Collaborate closely with business stakeholders and cross-functional teams to gather requirements and deliver robust, high-quality, and scalable solutions.
* Embed security and compliance into the design from the outset, ensuring sensitive data is protected and access is properly controlled.
* Assist in defining and documenting technical requirements and solution proposals.
* Offer technical advice and guidance to colleagues and relevant stakeholders.
* Contribute to project planning by providing input on feasibility, scope, and time estimates.
* Conduct research into emerging technologies and assess their potential value to the organisation, including the evaluation of third-party tools and software components as needed.
* Take part in code reviews to maintain high standards of code quality and foster knowledge sharing within the team.
* Support the setup and upkeep of Continuous Integration and Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) pipelines.
Skills, Qualifications & Experience Required:
* At least 5 years' experience in the development of Microsoft business applications, including Dynamics 365, Power Platform, and .NET based applications.
* At least 8 years' experience working in ICT roles.
* Experience and excellent understanding of full application lifecycle to customize and extend MS Power Platform (Power BI / Power Automate / Power Apps) and MS 365 services (SharePoint / Teams).
* At least 5 years' hands-on experience in the development of Azure services and their integration with Power Platform.
* Experience of development of APIs and event-driven integration architectures; proven experience in the delivery of integration solutions between systems, including legacy systems and third-party organizations (e.g. REST, SOAP, Service Bus), adhering to best practices for security architecture (OAuth, Open ID Connect, Entra ID, SSL, JWT, etc.).
* Experience of working within an Agile methodology.
* Experience in data warehouse design, data modelling, data integration, data analysis, and reporting, using Microsoft stack technologies (SQL / SSIS / ADF / Synapse / Analysis Services / DAX / Power BI) would be an advantage.
Qualifications:
* Engineering or bachelor's or master's degree in computing science / information systems / IT or equivalent professional experience.
* Microsoft certifications in Power Platform / Azure / .NET technologies.
* UK/EU citizenship or a Stamp 4 visa is an essential requirement
* Fluency in English is essential.
