This person will work closely with engineering leadership to evolve legacy systems into modern, cloud-native architectures.ABOUT THE ROLELeading the technical execution of large-scale platform modernisation initiativesWriting production code and leading complex engineering work across the teamDecomposing legacy systems and introducing modern architectural patternsPartnering with architecture, platform and product teams to define service boundaries and integration patternsEstablishing engineering standards, testing practices and design principles across the teamLeading technical design discussions and mentoring engineers at different experience levelsDriving incremental modernisation approaches that avoid large-scale rewritesIdentifying opportunities to leverage AI-assisted development tools and intelligent capabilities within the platformABOUT YOU10+ years of hands-on software engineering experienceSignificant experience modernising legacy systems into modern architecturesDeep expertise with .NET / C# and modern engineering practicesStrong TypeScript / Angular experience, with the ability to own features end-to-end across the full stackStrong experience designing and building distributed or service-oriented systemsExperience working across the full development lifecycle including CI/CD and automated testingStrong database and performance optimisation experienceProven ability to mentor engineers and influence engineering standards across teamsInterest in AI-assisted development and emerging engineering toolingOTHER DETAILSOpportunity to play a key role in the modernisation of a large-scale production platformWork alongside senior engineering leadership and architecture teamsModern engineering environment with strong focus on cloud and AI-enabled development toolsOpportunity to influence engineering practices and technical direction across multiple teamsOur client is based in Cork City, and the team is in the office three days per week.
