Job DescriptionSPAR Fossa as part of the Foley Retail group is hiring a Store Manager to join their team.OBJECTIVEEnsure delivery of store targets (both sales & profitability) through the effective management of store operations and employees.MANAGEMENTThe recruitment, training and development of all employees for store operations.Rostering and general management of employees to ensure adequate cover within budgetary provisions.Work to achieve Company goals for the store to ensure consistent customer service and competitiveness.Manage the performance of the team utilising effective performance management techniques in line with legislation.Continually communicate with Operations Manager, Assistant Store Manager and Retail Sales Team on objectives and store performance.FINANCESetting budgets for the storeGenerating and analysing financial reports, analysing same and reporting any discrepancies to Store OwnerEnsure overheads are controlled and minimised where appropriateEnsure store sales are maximisedEnsure store margins are managed appropriately and profitability of store is maximisedOPERATIONSReport to Operations Manager to ensure shop sales, margins and costs are managed effectively.Ensure store standards are consistently improved in terms of housekeeping, merchandising, presentation and serviceWork with Operations Manager and other Store Managers to Plan for market changes and demands as they ariseEnsure in-store promotions are managed appropriatelyEnsure policies and procedures are implemented and managed within the storeManage cash handling in line with company cash handling procedures and take action on any discrepancies that ariseManage and Prepare Staff Rotas and approve staff hours in advance of weekly payroll.Manage store merchandising ensuring appropriate "value" image is portrayed in line with company proceduresAccountable for ensuring consistently high levels of customer serviceTo ensure all customer complaints are dealt as appropriate manner and to take necessary action in implementing store improvements following customer complaintsSTOCK MANAGEMENTEnsure effective stock control procedures and systems are in place to minimise stock lossPreparation for and management of stock takeEnsure effective food management and waste systems are implemented, managed and updated appropriatelyIdentify areas of stock leakage and ensure effective systems are in place to minimise stock loss (e.g. through pilferage, wastage, damages)Ensure effective stock rotation and stock monitoring systems are in place and adhered toOversee 'Live' Stocks and Pricing as used throughout the Company's storesOversee twice yearly external stocktakes instoreLEGISLATION & SECURITYTake full care of Health and Safety of all employees and customers in store and ensure any risks are minimised, or where possible, eliminatedEnsure security of store and employees is maintained at all times and take action as requiredEnsure secure store opening and closing proceduresEnsure store operates within relevant legislation in terms of employment, health and safety law, HACCP and consumer regulationsEnsure you are up to date on all aspects of Health & Safety legislation, HACCP, Labour Law and Consumer Legislation and take relevant actions that may arise out of changes in sameGENERALMeet targets as agreedTo undertake other additional duties as may be assigned by the Store OwnerJob requirementsThe ideal candidate will possess many of the below attributes:Proven ability in managing retail sales team including the following:Planning and organisingProblem solvingManaging performanceExcellent operational knowledge of retail environmentExcellent interpersonal relationsExcellent understanding of consumer needsProven track record in achieving agreed targetsFinancial skills with previous experience of budgets and profit and loss accountsWorking knowledge of employment, health & safety regulations, HACCP, and consumer legislationAn excellent commercial acumen with the ability to anticipate and react to market changesCommitted to continually improving standardsSelf-motivatedThe ability to work in a pressurised environmentComputer skillsUse of initiative
