Your future role
As a Quantity Surveyor you will support the Commercial Manager and/or Lead Quantity Surveyor to optimise margin on a project while protecting the project from commercial risk and maintaining high standards in line with Alstom Policies and Procedures.
Responsibilities
* Administer the client payment cycle up to and including the Final Account and Project Change Account to maximise income, achieve the required margin, and maintain optimal cash flow.
* Proactively manage sub-contract accounts from project startup to final account, ensuring accurate reporting of liabilities and payments in accordance with contractual and legal requirements.
* Interpret and convey contract conditions related to key provisions, including the rights and obligations of all parties involved.
* Establish and maintain contemporaneous records to document progress, delays and controlled change management, contributing to event registers and entitlement documentation.
* Gather elemental costs and measurement information to aid in accurate assessment of project financials.
* Engage in Monthly Project Reviews and Work Package Management Reviews, identifying cost-saving opportunities for improved project delivery.
* Provide support aligned with the commercial management strategy and advise Commercial Managers and Project Teams on relevant topics.
* Develop and maintain relationships with clients, project teams, sub-contractors and suppliers to enhance collaboration and project success.
* Evaluate commercial processes to support continuous improvement and best practices.
* Comply with and promote Environment, Health & Safety responsibilities and participate in safety briefings, logging close calls and safety conversations.
All About You
* Experience in contracting commercial departments is highly desirable
* Guidance on quantification, costing of construction works and elemental cost analysis
* Experience with standard forms of contract and commercial terms
* Working knowledge of planning and use of programmes in construction management
* Guidance on determining scope of work through contract documents
* Experience of tendering and pre-contract cost analysis
* Knowledge of risk identification, risk registers and risk management
* Understanding of conflict avoidance, management and dispute resolution procedures
* Good interpersonal skills and ability to communicate clearly within project teams
* Capable of working under pressure and meeting deadlines
Desirable Skills and Qualifications
* Experience on Target Cost or Design and Construct contracts
* Knowledge of accounting concepts
* Awareness of Health, Safety and Sustainability matters relevant to the industry
* Graduate or Affiliate membership recognition by a Quantity Surveying institution, working towards higher-level professional qualification and maintaining required logs
