Core Responsibilities
Define and manage the mortgage product roadmap aligned with business goals and customer needs.
Collaborate with senior leadership to define product vision, strategy, and priorities.
Own product backlog and ensure features are prioritized based on business value and regulatory requirements.
Conduct market analysis and competitor benchmarking to identify product enhancement opportunities.
Drive digital transformation initiatives within mortgage origination and servicing platforms.
Business Analysis & Requirements Gathering
Gather, analyze, document, and validate business requirements from stakeholders.
Translate business requirements into functional specifications, user stories, and acceptance criteria.
Conduct workshops, stakeholder interviews, and process‑mapping sessions.
Analyze existing mortgage workflows and recommend process improvements.
Ensure traceability between business requirements, testing, and implementation.
Mortgage Domain Expertise
Support mortgage lifecycle processes including:
Loan origination
Credit assessment
Property valuation
Loan processing
Closing and funding
Collections and foreclosure processes
Ensure compliance with mortgage regulations, lending standards, and internal policies.
Collaborate with compliance and risk teams to implement regulatory updates.
Agile Delivery & Stakeholder Management
Act as liaison between business users, IT teams, vendors, and external stakeholders.
Participate in Agile ceremonies including sprint planning, backlog grooming, reviews, and retrospectives.
Support Scrum teams with clarification of business requirements and prioritization.
Coordinate UAT activities and support defect resolution.
Provide regular project updates and status reporting to leadership.
Change Management & Process Improvement
Lead process optimization initiatives to improve operational efficiency.
Develop training materials and support end‑user training.
Identify automation opportunities within mortgage operations.
Experience and Skills Required
Experience
10+ years of experience as a Product Owner, Business Analyst, or Functional Consultant within mortgage banking or financial services.
Extensive experience in mortgage origination and servicing systems.
Strong background working in Agile/Scrum delivery environments.
Experience collaborating with cross‑functional stakeholders including operations, underwriting, compliance, legal, and technology teams.
Hands‑on experience in requirements gathering, process modeling, and solution implementation.
Experience working with third‑party mortgage vendors and fintech platforms.
Exposure to cloud‑based mortgage platforms and digital banking solutions preferred.
Mortgage Domain Knowledge
Deep understanding of:
Loan origination systems (LOS)
Regulatory compliance
Mortgage documentation and disclosures
Secondary mortgage market concepts
Knowledge of retail banking and lending operations.
Familiarity with industry regulations and standards.
