Purpose of the Role:
The primary objective of this role is to provide care and support through a person-centred approach that meets the practical, physical, and emotional needs of residents with an Intellectual Disability, ABI, or Autism.
* Act as a key worker for assigned residents where appropriate.
* Support residents with their daily plans.
* Assist residents with their individual goals and education.
* Support residents with living skills such as cooking, cleaning, laundry, attending appointments, and family visits.
* The Social Care Worker is part of the on-floor duty team and may be responsible for coordinating shifts and supervising other staff under their direction.
* The Social Care Worker reports to the person in charge and collaborates as part of a multi-disciplinary team to deliver services to residents.
Role Requirements:
* Hold a qualification at Level 7 or above, meeting the criteria to be registered as a Social Care Worker with CORU.
* Knowledge of quality assurance practices and their application to service delivery.
* Experience working in residential, respite, or day service settings with persons with an intellectual disability.
* Knowledge of Person-Centred Planning.
* Understanding of clinical and human resource policies, procedures, and relevant legislation.
* Knowledge of National Disability Standards (HIQA).
* Participation in extensive training programs.
