An exciting opportunity has arisen for the position of Bed Manager (37 hours per week). This role entails having responsibility for the efficient and effective utilisation of bed resources ensuring the safe placement of patients. The Role: To manage and coordinate hospital reservations and bed control activities To coordinate medical and surgical admissions to ensure maximum utilization of bed resources. Daily scheduling of beds & communication to each ward Late discharge reports from each ward- and update KPIS Maintain interface with hospital and clinic managers and support staff to ensure compliance with hospital and division policies and procedures. Liaising with A&E, ICU, & Cath lab on a daily basis Liaising & updating the Admissions Manager & Admissions Office daily Patient communication via our Patientcare line to ensure top service is given to all our patients pre op. Updating census every evening liaising unscheduled care for GUH medical beds assigned daily. liaising daily with Infection control to move out & isolate patients accordingly Daily Pre-admission calls to patients Develop and/or update policies and procedures required for admission office and patient discharge planning as essential to meet Joint Commission International Standards. Prepare daily, monthly and annual reports and analyses, including operating statistics (as assigned), setting forth progress, adverse trends and appropriate recommendations or conclusions for the growth of Bed management. Discharge planning & communication Any other duties as assigned by the Head of Bed Management and COO. The Candidate: Clinical background - desirable but not essential. Previous managerial or administrative experience. Knowledge of current practices in relation to infection prevention and control. Excellent organisational, interpersonal and communication skills. Computer skills including excel, word and Meditech.
