Responsibilities
GENERAL PURPOSE:
Performs Nuclear Cardiology studies requiring theoretical insight and experience, including SPECT, SPECT/CT, PET/CT. Provides patient care, technical skills, and documentation. Follows radiation safety measures, explains procedures to patients, and ensures their safety and comfort. Evaluates patient needs, acquires and processes images, maintains quality control, and manages radiopharmacy tasks.
Essential Functions
* Positions patient and performs imaging procedures.
* Performs nuclear cardiology imaging according to standards and organizational policies.
* Handles radiopharmaceuticals according to protocols and regulations, monitoring patient condition and reporting changes.
* Analyzes imaging results, resolves quality issues, and reports results.
* Reviews patient history and orders, educates patients about procedures.
* Ensures imaging techniques are appropriate for patient’s age and understanding.
* Maintains inventory of supplies in nuclear cardiology rooms.
Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Education & Experience
* Bachelor's degree in Nuclear Medicine and 1.5 years of experience as a Nuclear Cardiology Specialist, or equivalent.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
* Basic Life Support (BLS) Healthcare Provider certification required.
Licenses and Certifications
* NYS licensure in Nuclear Medicine or a temporary license when accredited program is passed, and passing NMTCB or ARRT(N) exam upon hire required.
* Certified as a Nuclear Medicine Technologist (CNMT) or registered as a Radiologic Technologist (RT) with certification in Nuclear Medicine upon hire required.
* CT certification and Nuclear Cardiology Technology certification are preferred but not required.
