Amazon Web Services (AWS) is seeking a Senior Civil Engineer to join the Data centre Design Engineering Team in Dublin, Ireland.
This role involves designing and delivering world‑class data centre facilities across Europe, Middle East & Africa, collaborating with cross‑functional teams to solve complex civil engineering challenges, and influencing how we build for security, safety, efficiency, and cost effectiveness.
Key Responsibilities

Work with the other design and engineering professionals on concepts and build projects.
Create, review and release data centre Civil Engineering designs.
Manage the portfolio of data centre designs and features.
Develop and maintain Basis of Design, prototype design, and template specifications for civil engineering systems.
Serve as a technical advisor for AWS DC design projects, including reviewing civil engineering designs such as roads, drainage, civil site works, bulk earthworks, cut/fill analysis, retaining walls; evaluating civil engineering design options, and assessing calculation assumptions.
Manage external civil design consultants.
Coordinate with internal and external MEP design engineers.
Lead initiatives aimed at improving cost, quality, schedule, and consistency.
Work on multiple data centre build and capital improvement projects simultaneously.
Travel for site assessments, consultant selection activities, internal design meetings, construction reviews, interfaces with AHJs, and building owners (anticipated travel not to exceed 25%).
Be proficient in Civil 3D, AutoCAD, Revit, Bluebeam, and the MS Office Suite.

Basic Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related field.
Professional Engineering or Architectural License.
Experience in industrial or commercial engineering in mission‑critical facilities (e.g., data centres, power generation, or oil & gas facilities).
Strong experience in Civil Engineering Design.

Preferred Qualifications

Knowledge of building codes and regulations for the EMEA region.
Experience carrying design concepts through exploration, development, and into deployment or mass production.
Experience reading, interpreting, and creating construction drawings, specifications, and submittal documents.
Experience in data centre design, construction, operations, or facility maintenance.
