ECOLOGIST Veon is looking to recruit an experienced Ecologist to join our growing team throughout Ireland.

As a company providing ecology services to a wide range of sectors, the successful candidate must demonstrate a deep knowledge of Irish ecology while also being committed to providing practical solutions for our clients.

Veon offers a wide variety of services across both the forestry and ecology sectors all of which will provide a breadth of experience in this field.

Veon Ecology provides continuity of services from Preliminary Ecological Appraisal (PEA) through to Protected Species Surveys into mitigation and the EIA chapters.

Our ecological services portfolio includes, but is not limited to: AA-Screenings Natura Impact Statements (NIS) Ecological Impact Assessments (Ec IA) Biodiversity Management Plans (BMP) Biodiversity Net Gain (BNG) Preliminary Ecological Assessment (PEA) Invasive Alien Plants Species Surveying and Management Plans (IAPS) Collision Risk Modelling (CRM) Conservation Management Plans (CMP) Forest ecology Ornithological Surveys, Breeding & Winter, red listed species Building Research Establishment Environmental Assessment (BREEAM) EIAR Screenings (and Biodiversity Chapters) Protected Species Surveys (Bats, Otter, Badger, Pine Marten, etc.) Freshwater, Aquatic, and Riverine Surveys Freshwater Pearl Mussel surveys, Q values Ecological Clerk of Works (ECo W) The role will primarily involve undertaking ecological surveys and reporting on these surveys.

The successful candidate will have strong project management skills and be able to work within tight deadlines while making a positive contribution to our team.

The role reports to the Lead Ecologist Head of Division.

We can offer flexibility in relation to the location of the role and the successful candidate can be based at our Head Office in Dublin or in our Kilkenny, Longford, Limerick, Roscommon or Galway regional offices.

Key Responsibilities of Ecologist Role: Compile technically robust ecology reports for our clients.

These will include, but not limited to, Pre-screening reports, Appropriate Assessment reports and Natura Impact Statements.

Provide advice and guidance to the wider Veon team on ecological issues as they arise.

Keep up to date with relevant legislation and guidance to ensure company compliance and interpret this for colleagues and the Management Team.

Manage a large workload efficiently including scheduling of work and communicating with team members and clients in a timely manner.

Manage time and project delivery in an organised and proactive manner to ensure smooth delivery of reports and projects.

Work as a team member and share knowledge, expertise and learning with colleagues.

Collate and store ecological data and reports while maintaining these records in a manner that is easily and readily accessible by colleagues as required.

Work as a team on the completion of tenders.

Requirements of Ecologist Role The successful candidate should have the following skills: Relevant degree in Ecology or related discipline is essential.

Minimum 2 years experience in a similar role.

Membership of relevant professional institute is desirable.

Ornithology experience is desirable.

Experience undertaking report writing.

Experience undertaking field surveys and managing field data.

Excellent computer skills, particularly MS Office.

Excellent written and verbal communications skills to effectively communicate with a range of stakeholders and negotiate practical solutions.

Ability to manage projects to tight deadlines.

Previous experience in GIS including Arc GIS and QGIS is desirable.

Full driving licence is essential.

Willingness to travel throughout Ireland.

Capable of working competently both alone and as part of the team when required.
