Role Overview
We are looking to hire a Senior HSE Advisor to support the business in achieving its Health, Safety & Environmental objectives.
The role reports to the Operations Director and focuses on delivering HSE plans, ensuring site compliance, proactive management, and fostering a culture of zero harm.
Key Responsibilities
Ensure compliance with local Health, Safety and Environmental legislation as well as company policies.
Prepare HSE performance KPI reports and conduct environmental monitoring and measurement.
Lead and chair HSE Steering meetings and Safety Committee meetings.
Assist in claims management processes.
Review HSE risk assessments, policies and procedures regularly.
Support HSE and continuous improvement projects.
Carry out accident/incident investigations on site and support external investigations.
Cooperate with regulatory enforcement agencies, insurance agencies and occupational health providers.
Identify training requirements, deliver HSE training and support other training delivery as needed.
Collaborate with site teams – leadership, production, engineering, logistics, purchasing – to complete HSE improvement plans and deploy HSE roadmaps.
Collaborate with contractors and visitors to ensure safety.
Manage the HSE budget, ensuring prompt and accurate processing of purchase orders and invoices.
Review trends in occupational health assessments and reports.
Coach and mentor team members on safe work practices.
Analyse site HSE trends, both leading and lagging.
Lead site HSE policy development, strategic planning, Zero Harm initiatives and HSE roadmap development.
Provide site leadership with technical HSE advice and act as an internal consultant.
Develop and coordinate short, medium and long-term HSE activities and innovative preventative strategies.
Support managers in securing meaningful employee involvement in HSE.
Minimum Qualifications
Level 6 Certificate in Health & Safety Management or equivalent.
In-depth knowledge of current Health, Safety and Environmental legislation.
Good working knowledge of risk assessments, safety statement development, chemical agent regulations, accident and dangerous occurrence reporting.
Significant experience in a similar role within a similar industry.
Experience working in a manufacturing environment.
Experience implementing, developing or auditing management systems such as OHSAS, ISO*****, ISO*****, ISO*****, ISO****.
Experience in coaching and mentoring.
Membership of IOSH.
