Clinical Nurse Manager III -UPMC Aut Even Hospital Location: Aut Even Hospital Job type: Permanent Overview of role: We are currently recruiting for a Clinical Nurse Manager III at UPMC Aut Even Hospital.
The role is responsible for the provision of quality service in line with standards of nursing practice and is central to safe patient care.
The person should be energetic with enthusiasm to both lead and motivate a team Primary Duties and Responsibilities: The CNMIII will provide leadership and management to the staff on duty.
Ensure the deteriorating patient pathway and patient placement procedures/policies are implemented.
Proactive redeployment of staff on clinical/acuity requirements.
Provide leadership with staff performances.
To promote and maintain the highest standard of nursing care, to ensure the safety and wellbeing of all patients and staff.
Support service areas in the day-to-day operational delivery of services and manage any professional or operation issues that required action and escalation.
Provide leadership and support to the nurse managers to enable and empower them to deliver high quality safe patient care and ensure agreed objectives and policies set are achieved.
Contribute to the requirements of NMBI for the practice of professional nursing are met and upheld including the development of an expanded scope of nursing practice.
Take personal responsibility for own professional development and keep up to date with evidence based practice and research.
Attend and participate in development programmes on an ongoing basis and share knowledge with other members of the nursing team.
Lead on KPIs/Quality initiatives in conjunction with the Quality department.
Report/ feedback monthly to ADONs results from Audits and KPIs.
Ensure that there is compliance with all relevant UPMC Aut Even guidelines, policies, procedures and relevant legislation and regulatory requirements.
This includes responsibility for dealing with regulatory or professional bodies and inspections.
Encourage continuous review and evaluation of policies, guidelines and existing practices through regular audit programmes and review engaging with the multi-disciplinary team where required.
Promote a culture of continuous quality improvement across the department involving the team in continuous improvement initiatives and encouraging innovation.
Set and monitor core objectives, standards and key performance indicators for the service and monitor performance against these standards through internal and (where applicable) external audit.
Lead out on the requirements of the hospital's accreditation process.
Active participation in Theatre Users Group and Scheduling Committee.
Be active member of CPR committee and deteriorating patient group.
Operations To provide a high level of professional Leadership for the Nursing Care Services taking responsibility for the safe delivery and co-ordination of nursing services for patients, ensuring effective, efficient and quality specialist nursing care service.
Provide acute care, professional and specialist advise Contribute to the planning, development and monitoring of human and budget resource plans to ensure an effective and efficient service.
Contribute to the planning of specialist nursing service, innovations and developments.
Ensure that nursing care is evidence-based and reflective of best practice Develop close links with other healthcare facilities relevant to the delivery and enhancement of services.
Monitor complaints and investigate any nursing and clinical complaints, taking corrective action as appropriate and review audit to ensure there are no re-occurrences.
Facilitate effective communication with patients, relatives, visitors and multi-disciplinary team as necessary ensuring patient confidentiality is respected and always maintained.
Round on patients at least once on each shift and ensure any care deficits are addressed.
Implement hourly purposeful rounding is implemented on each unit Ensure best practice is in place in relation to handover, medical and nursing Communicate and develop effective relationships with Medical Consultants, Clinical Nurse Managers and other relevant hospital staff to ensure safe, efficient management of the Unit.
Identify opportunities for the development of services that will improve the care of patients.
Liaise with the ADON on a regular basis, as appropriate, providing feedback on Unit/Ward activity and issues.
Ensure that systems for the provision of clinical and non-clinical services are satisfactory and that they are timely and economically utilised.
Contribute to an annual review of nursing services including the preparation of an annual report.
Ensure that all staff within the Unit are familiar with the plan for management of critical incidents and that the Unit is ready to meet such a demand.
Support the CODE Blue and hospital resuscitation services ensuring that the standard for care is maintained 24/7 People Management Provide clinical and management leadership for Staff Nurses and support staff and ensure an effective learning environment for the multidisciplinary team and take an active part in the delivery of care as appropriate.
Work within the code of Professional Conduct for Nurses, participation in the development of the Scope of Practice and provide strong professional leadership and direction for nursing services.
Promote an environment that is conducive to the development of best practice, enhances staff retention and promotes good industrial relations.
Maintain a high level of staff morale, promoting good communication, team spirit and job satisfaction among members of the multidisciplinary team.
Strive to ensure that staff are accountable, responsible and have authority to practice and manage within their roles.
Identify and celebrate WINs within the team acknowledging staff commitments to safe patient care.
Play a role in the recruitment and selection of nursing and support staff for the service.
Ensure that all new nursing and support staff in the Unit receive an adequate orientation and induction programme, have a clear understanding of their duties, responsibilities and standards of performance at all times.
Learning and Education In conjunction with the CNM II, provide professional and personal development opportunities for all nursing and support staff.
Collaborate with the ACNO nurse education and professional development to identify opportunities for learning and development for registered nurses and other healthcare professionals.
Contribute to the requirements of NMBI for the practice of professional nursing are met and upheld including the development of an expanded scope of nursing practice.
Maintain accurate records of all study leave and education resources used.
Implement an enhanced staff competence assessment relevant to the Unit/Ward.
In conjunction with the CNM II, facilitate study days and leave for nurses and support staff, in accordance with the Study Leave Policy and within budgeted allowances.
Participate in clinical learning environment audits that support the undergraduate programme and with ACNO identify new opportunities for clinical placement.
Quality Improvement and Risk Management Ensure that there is compliance with all relevant UPMC Aut Even guidelines, policies, procedures and relevant legislation and regulatory requirements.
This includes responsibility for dealing with regulatory or professional bodies and inspections.

Promote the delivery of a high standard of care to all patients.
Encourage evidence-based practice and assist in the dissemination and implementation of research findings.
Work with members of the Multidisciplinary team in devising Standard Operating Procedures for the development of the Unit.
Collaborate with the wider MDT team to support the hospital's Sepsis Programme Qualifications & Experience: Be registered in the general division of the Register of Nurses maintained by NMBI Have a recognised post-registration nursing course - Higher Diploma or post grad course in Intensive care nursing or equivalent.
5 years' experience in an acute hospital setting working at management level Critical/Acute Care Experience is essential.
Experience with active management of deteriorating patient and escalation of their care.
Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of the development and delivery of a comprehensive service, meeting a full range of key targets and making significant improvements.
Can lead and facilitate change management Hold an up-to-date Advanced Cardiac Life Support course or be in pursuit of same IT skills to include ppt, excel, word and those relevant for audit and data collection.
Hold a recognised qualification for ALERT or be in pursuit of same.
Hold Fire Warden certificate of be in pursuit of same Be flexible in approach adapting to meet the needs of an acute service.
