12 month contract | 5 days onsite in DublinOverview:We are seeking a Mechanical Engineer with hands-on experience in Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) to join our client, a leading multinational company in the tech sector.This role sits within a specialist engineering team focused on cooling and airflow modelling for large-scale infrastructure environments. You will work alongside senior engineers and cross-functional stakeholders across design, construction, and sustainability to improve the performance and efficiency of critical systems.Key Responsibilities:Support CFD analysis of airflow and cooling performance in large-scale facilities using tools such as HELYX, OpenFOAM, ANSYS, or similarPost-process simulation results and prepare clear technical reports and visualisations for senior engineersValidate CFD models against real-world operational data and benchmarksCollaborate with design and sustainability teams to assess cooling performance and water use impactsContribute to the development of in-house modelling tools for airflow and water usageDocument assumptions, inputs, and interpretations for modelling workflowsParticipate in knowledge sharing and learn established standards and methodologiesOccasionally support thermal or water modelling projects for experimental or emerging technologiesEssential Requirements:Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace, or related fieldStrong knowledge of fluid dynamics and heat transfer fundamentalsPractical experience with CFD software (HELYX, OpenFOAM, ANSYS, SimScale, Fluent, or equivalent)Basic Python scripting and Excel data analysis skillsExcellent written and verbal communication skillsDesirable Skills:1–3 years' experience in HVAC, data centre cooling, electronics cooling, or building servicesUnderstanding of psychrometrics, airside economisers, or evaporative cooling systemsExperience automating CFD workflows using Python, bash, or macrosKnowledge of sustainability metrics such as PUE or WUEFamiliarity with tools such as Six Sigma, Reality DC Pro, or Rhino softwareAbility to present technical findings to non-technical stakeholdersWhy Join:This is a unique opportunity to apply CFD skills to large-scale, real-world projects in an advanced engineering environment.
