We are currently seeking an experienced Automation Process Engineer for a 12–18 month contract!
This role will support a high-impact project focused on the introduction of new assembly equipment for a combination device, involving both moulding and automated systems.
Key Responsibilities:
* Manage the execution of engineering projects within the department.
* Implement equipment and process improvement initiatives.
* Perform daily preventative and demand maintenance to support manufacturing and utility equipment.
* Work with the Engineering Manager to define departmental goals, schedules, and activity timelines.
* Support the development and management of manufacturing equipment.
* Perform electro-mechanical troubleshooting.
* Validate new processes and develop technical documentation.
* Identify opportunities for implementing new technologies.
* Prepare and submit capital expenditure requests.
* Design new equipment and stations.
* Source and liaise with equipment vendors.
* Facilitate equipment technical transfers from other locations.
* Manage capital projects from inception to completion.
* Provide written and verbal project updates to management.
* Deliver technical training sessions.
* Maintain manufacturing equipment.
* Generate monthly engineering metrics.
* Ensure successful completion of external, divisional, and corporate audits.
* Ensure compliance with calibration and preventive maintenance schedules for equipment.
* Identify and implement continuous improvement projects (CIPs) related to manufacturing equipment.
* Issue timely management reports.
* Manage assigned budgets to meet targets.
* Cross-train within the manufacturing engineering team.
* Ensure adherence to safety standards and safe working practices.
* Implement upgrades to equipment and processes in line with continuous improvement efforts.
* Support the Engineering Team in maintaining manufacturing equipment to meet all legal, divisional, and corporate standards.
* Liaise with Division Engineering as necessary.
* Effectively manage internal and external plant projects.
* Enforce policies related to Personnel, Quality, Engineering, and Safety.
* Supervise external contractors.
* Negotiate cost-effective and quality-assured external contracts.
* Prepare and implement CAPA (Corrective and Preventive Action) plans and timelines.
* Develop new processes and complete required validations.
* Conduct acceptance trials for new moulds in sub-assembly equipment and support their introduction into production.
* Present project updates at various management levels.
* Participate in risk management activities as required.
Key Requirements:
* Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or a related discipline.
* At least 2 years of automation experience within a medical device environment.
* Hands-on experience in assembly automation troubleshooting.
* Experience with new production line introductions (NPI) and validation activities.
* Knowledge of ultrasonic welding for plastic components desired.
