Camphill Communities of Ireland (CCoI) are recruiting for a Social Care Worker in Dingle, Co Kerry.
Position: Social Care Worker
Location: Dingle, Co. Kerry
Type: Full-time (40 hours per week) – Permanent
Salary: €36,379 - €52,445 per annum (based on 40 hour week)
Responsibilities
* Advocacy & Rights: Respect each person as an equal citizen; uphold rights; facilitate choice and decision-making; develop self-advocacy and community integration; support personal hobbies and autonomy.
* Person Centred Support for Living: Ensure a person-centred service delivery; support individual and group plans in areas such as occupation and leisure, communication, behaviour support, independent living skills, social integration, personal care, and personal development; act as a Key Worker for specific individuals.
* Develop and implement person-centred plans; coordinate medical appointments; offer healthy, nutritious diet; create training, leisure, social, and personal activities; promote community participation.
* Ensure compliance with behaviour support plans developed by the Multidisciplinary Team; support self-help and social skills; promote hygiene and personal appearance; manage physical and personal care supports including moving and handling, first aid, and health promotion.
* Encourage participation in recreational activities; liaise with workshops to manage house-to-work transitions; contribute to social and recreational activities with Day Services Coordinator.
* Transport: Achieve competency in driving assigned transport and participate in transport duties as required; monitor and support residents in home maintenance and environment cleanliness.
* Financial: Promote prudent management of personal monies; assist in meal planning, preparation, and budgeting; support residents with shopping and meals as needed.
* Other responsibilities: Support religious/pastoral needs; administer prescribed medications and maintain records per policy; assist in day-to-day running of the household and ensure policies, procedures, and value-based practices are followed; ensure buildings and linens are maintained.
Management & Leadership
* Ensure compliance with legislative, CCoI policies, and regulatory requirements (Health & Safety, HIQA).
* Maintain up-to-date records; manage reports, timesheets, and financial statements; keep comprehensive person records and ensure accurate reporting to the Shift Lead/Person in Charge.
* Coordinate house team coverage, induction and training of staff/volunteers; contribute to team effectiveness and adherence to CCoI codes of practice; manage transport needs.
Money and Budgets
* Account for petty cash and personal monies; maintain a petty cash float; ensure prudent use of goods and services; assist in budget preparation and monitoring; manage house accounts and monthly submissions.
Qualifications, Knowledge & Experience
Applicants must:
* Hold a minimum of Level 7 on the QQI Framework – BA in Social Care Studies or equivalent qualification in Health or Social Care.
* Be CORU registered or provide proof the application is in progress.
* Have 1 year of experience working with vulnerable adults or adults with intellectual disabilities.
* Understand current policy and developments at national/sectoral level in social care for disability services.
* Be able to follow, evaluate, and contribute to plans to meet ongoing needs; have effective interpersonal and communication skills; proficient IT skills (Microsoft Office, Excel, Word, SharePoint, OneDrive, Teams).
* Hold a full driver’s licence and have access to a car.
