Dual Hotel Chief Engineer – Aloft & Element Arundel Mills at BWI – Hanover, MD
Waterford Hotel Group is seeking an experienced, hands‑on Dual Chief Engineer to oversee hotel maintenance, hospitality engineering, and building operations for the Aloft Arundel Mills and Element Arundel Mills at BWI in Hanover, Maryland.
This leadership role is ideal for a hotel engineering professional with strong experience in HVAC, electrical, plumbing, mechanical systems, preventative maintenance, facilities management, and hotel operations.
Key Responsibilities
Oversee all engineering, hotel maintenance, and building maintenance operations for two select‑service Marriott hotels
Manage HVAC systems, plumbing, electrical systems, mechanical equipment, and life safety systems
Lead preventative maintenance programs and repair schedules to ensure excellent guest satisfaction
Supervise, train, and mentor the engineering and maintenance team
Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations, safety standards, and Marriott brand standards
Coordinate vendor relationships, equipment repairs, and capital improvement projects
Monitor energy management programs and control engineering department expenses
Maintain high‑quality hotel facilities and operational efficiency across both properties
Respond to maintenance emergencies and operational needs as required
Qualifications
Previous hotel Chief Engineer, Assistant Chief Engineer, or Engineering Manager experience required
Marriott hotel experience preferred
Strong knowledge of hotel HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and mechanical systems
Experience leading maintenance teams and hotel engineering operations
Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced hospitality environment
Excellent leadership, communication, organization, and problem‑solving skills

Requirements
Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Chief Engineer, Assistant Chief Engineer, or Facilities Engineer within the hospitality industry
Strong knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, electrical, refrigeration, mechanical, and life safety systems
Experience with hotel preventative maintenance programs, equipment operations, and facilities management
Understanding of OSHA regulations, safety standards, and national, state, and local building codes
Ability to troubleshoot and repair hotel engineering systems and equipment
Strong leadership, organization, communication, and problem‑solving skills
Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed
