St Francis Nursing home, Kilkerrin, Co. Galway is recruiting Health Care Assistants to join our multi‑disciplinary team.
Job Description
Provide direct care to residents under the direction of the Nursing Staff.
Support the promotion of equality and contribute to the protection and safety of all residents.
Assist residents in maintaining interests, identity and well‑being, and maintain contact with significant persons.
Support residents during care transitions as their care requirements change.
Attend to hygiene: bathing, showering, shaving, dressing and undressing residents, including the care of unconscious, incontinent, or bed‑confined residents.
Assist with toileting: providing, removing and emptying urinals and commodes; cleaning and disinfecting equipment; supervising residents in toilets and bathrooms.
Manage nutrition: obtain, transmit and store information about nutritional service; assist residents during meals; ensure dietary needs, special diets and supplementary drinks are followed.
Promote mobilisation: enable residents to maintain mobility, lift and position when necessary, assist walking and limb exercises, ensure comfort in beds or chairs, and facilitate recreational activities and diversional therapy.
Handle general duties: distribute dentures, escort residents to hospitals, manage personal property as per policy, care for dentures, glasses and hearing aids, assist phone calls, answer call bells and report requests to Nursing Staff.
Qualifications
QQI/FETAC Level 5 qualification in Care of the Older Person, Healthcare Support or equivalent in a relevant healthcare discipline.
Good command of the English language.
Legally entitled to work within Ireland and the EU.
Hospital experience preferred.
