OverviewJoin to apply for the Engineer (Roads) role at WSP in the UK & Ireland.The Ireland Roads team is seeking an Engineer with relevant post-qualification experience in the design and project management of road schemes and active travel schemes to work in our Limerick (N/M20 Project office). The team is growing and offers excellent opportunities for the right candidate.What you will doThe successful candidate will lead and help grow a team undertaking concept, preliminary and detailed designs for major national road schemes including the N/M20 Cork to Limerick Project, Public Transport schemes (including Cork BusConnects and Metrolink) and active travel schemes for the National Transport Authority and Local Authorities.You will be involved in the project management and technical delivery of schemes from inception through to the handover of the completed schemes to the clients. This role will primarily be client-facing and the successful candidate will be able to demonstrate a track record of delivery of schemes in either the local, regional or national transport arena.You will manage projects to ensure coordination and compatibility of multi-disciplinary inputs on projects of varying scale, complexity and value.Liaising with clients, developing strong trusted relationships, proactively managing expectations and comprehensively advising them.Undertake project technical lead and reviewer roles.Use technical ability and experience to develop staff.Prepare fee proposals and manage budgets for individual projects.Be responsible for the development and delivery of discrete and overall project solutions.Lead and manage other staff members in the delivery of design drawings, standard construction details, specifications and bill of quantities, supporting the preparation of tender packages.Be responsible for compliance with Health & Safety and Environmental Legislation and in-house quality assurance standards/processes.What we will be looking for you to demonstrateProject management and technical delivery lead of Road or Public Transport/Active Travel schemes, with experience of Transport Infrastructure Ireland/National Transport Authority/Local Authority procedures essential.Experience of contract document preparation or contract administration/site supervision using Public Works Contracts.A chartered member of a relevant engineering technical institution.Experience or knowledge of alignment and drainage design software packages such as Civil3D/Open Roads and WinDes preferred, but not essential.Good communication, client management and interpersonal skills are essential.Excellent IT skills including MS Projects.A thorough understanding and application of current design standards including; Urban Street and/or Active Travel Design (i.e. DMURS, The Traffic Signs Manual, the Cycle Design Manual, etc.), Highway Geometric Design (i.e. TII Publications) and also TII and NTA Project Management Guidelines.Strong stakeholder management experience.Additional informationWe are committed to work-life balance with hybrid working policies and flexible arrangements.
