Research & Development / Design Engineer
Position Summary
An exciting opportunity exists for an experienced R&D / Design Engineer to contribute to the design, development, and continuous improvement of innovative medical products.
The successful candidate will play a key role in product development — from concept through to prototype, testing, and final implementation — working closely with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality, compliant medical device solutions.
Key Responsibilities
Design and develop new medical products from concept to production.
Evaluate product and process performance, maintaining all required documentation and records.
Select appropriate raw materials, components, and suppliers in line with project needs.
Fabricate prototypes and conduct testing to verify design performance.
Collaborate and communicate effectively with Project Managers and customers on project progress.
Serve as a technical resource and mentor for less experienced colleagues.
Drive continuous improvement in products and processes.
Perform other duties as required by project or management needs.
Comply with all relevant Health & Safety requirements.
Candidate Profile
Ideal candidates will have most or all of the following qualifications and experience:
Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, or a related discipline (essential).
5+ years of experience in a similar R&D or Design Engineering role (essential).
Experience working in a medical device or regulated environment (advantageous but not essential).
Strong ability to manage multiple projects and adapt to changing priorities.
Highly motivated, self-starting, and able to work both independently and as part of a team.
Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
Demonstrated ownership and accountability for tasks through to completion.
Proficiency in a high-end CAD system, ideally SolidWorks.
Hands-on approach to design, prototyping, and fabrication.
Understanding of and ability to work to international medical device regulations.
