Kepak Group is seeking a reliable and skilled
Canteen Cook
to join our team.
The ideal candidate will be responsible for preparing and serving nutritious meals to our staff, and visiting customers/suppliers maintaining a clean and safe kitchen environment, and adhering to food safety standards.
Key responsibilities include preparing daily menus, cooking meals on schedule, managing inventory of food supplies, and ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare and cook meals in line with menu plans, dietary requirements, and portion controls
Serve food to customers in a friendly, professional, and efficient manner
Ensure food is presented attractively and served at the correct temperature
Assist with menu planning where required
Provide a high standard of customer service to all staff and visitors
Handle customer queries, requests, and feedback in a polite and professional manner
Maintain a welcoming and respectful canteen environment
Place food and supply orders in line with agreed budgets and supplier guidelines
Monitor stock levels to ensure adequate supplies at all times
Rotate stock correctly and minimise waste
Check deliveries for quality, quantity, and correct storage
Maintain the highest standards of hygiene and cleanliness in all food preparation and service areas
Follow all HACCP, food safety, and company hygiene procedures at all times
Ensure equipment, work surfaces, and storage areas are cleaned and sanitised regularly
Comply with hand hygiene, personal hygiene, and uniform standards
Assist with food safety checks, temperature records, and cleaning schedules
Follow all health & safety policies and safe systems of work
Use kitchen equipment safely and report any faults or hazards
Support a safe working environment for colleagues and customers
Previous experience as a cook or in a similar food service role
Good knowledge of food hygiene and safe food handling practices
Strong customer service and communication skills
Ability to place orders and manage basic stock control
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
