Location: Cork City Reports To: Site Manager / Project Manager Employment Type: Full-time Role Overview The Working Civils Foreman is responsible for supervising and actively carrying out civil engineering works on site. The role involves leading site operatives while working hands-on to ensure all works are delivered safely, to programme, and in compliance with Irish regulations and project specifications. Key Responsibilities Supervise and work alongside site crews to deliver civil works safely and efficiently Carry out and oversee works including: Groundworks and earthworks Drainage and services installation Concrete works (formwork, pours, finishing) Roadworks, kerbing, and paving Ensure works are completed in line with drawings, specifications, and method statements Plan daily works, allocate labour, plant, and materials Liaise with Site Manager, Engineers, and subcontractors Maintain high standards of health, safety, and environmental compliance Conduct daily briefings and toolbox talks Ensure compliance with Safe Pass, CSCS, and site-specific requirements Identify and resolve on-site issues promptly Complete site records including daily diaries, permits, and timesheets Maintain site housekeeping and quality standards Skills & Experience Minimum 3-5 years' experience in a foreman or senior operative role within civil engineering Strong hands-on experience across civil construction activities Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and setting-out information Good knowledge of Irish construction standards and regulations Strong leadership, communication, and organisational skills Ability to work to tight programmes and maintain productivity
