Director of Small Animal Veterinary Medicine
Highfield Veterinary is recruiting a Director of Small Animal Veterinary Medicine to join our leadership team. This is a key role, responsible for ensuring the continued growth and clinical excellence of our small animal clinics.
Reporting to the CEO and working closely with the senior management team including the Director of Large Animal Medicine and the Business Development Manager, the role will combine clinical oversight, operational management, and business leadership.
This is a senior and wide-ranging position, requiring strong leadership skills, commercial awareness, and the ability to manage both people and processes across multiple locations.
Key Responsibilities
Business and Clinical Growth
* Deliver growth plans both in terms of clinical services and financial performance.
* Monitor and manage KPIs, ensuring targets are met and revenue continues to develop.
* Assess market trends and competition, maintaining the group's strong position.
Operational Management
* Oversee day-to-day clinic operations, ensuring standards are met and services run smoothly.
* Develop and maintain SOPs and clinical protocols to support consistent, high-quality care.
* Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and legislation, anticipating changes where possible.
People and Team Development
* Lead and support multiple teams and individuals, fostering an engaged, motivated, and high-performing workforce.
* Manage recruitment, retention, and CPD planning to support long-term clinical and professional development.
* Provide guidance and support on professional matters, including regulatory or client-related challenges.
Business Development and External Relations
* Represent the company in meetings with external stakeholders, including financial and commercial partners.
* Identify and develop opportunities for expansion, including new clinic tenders, leases, site design and opening.
* Act as a senior representative of the company in public and professional settings.
Innovation and Future Planning
* Ensure services remain modern and efficient through the use of up-to-date technology, systems, and clinical practices.
* Plan for long-term development aligning clinical delivery with business objectives.
About You
* A veterinary degree and eligibility to practice in Ireland are essential.
* Experience in a senior management or leadership role within the veterinary sector is highly desirable.
* Strong commercial and operational understanding, with proven success in delivering business results.
* The ability to manage complex operations across multiple sites.
* Excellent leadership and people management skills, with a focus on recruitment, team development and retention.
* A practical, organised approach, able to balance strategic priorities with day-to-day operational needs.
* Confident clear communication skills when representing the business.
