* BSc in Human Nutrition in Dietetics & Nutrition or equivalent
* Have a minimum of 3 years’ experience as a Senior Dietician
* Have experience working as a member of a multi-disciplinary team
* Have experience of working with service users with mental health difficulties
* Have experience with Service Users with Eating Disorders
* Have experience working with catering services in developing and reviewing the hospital menu cycle including nutritional guidance on therapeutic diets (desirable)
* Knowledge of current theory and practice in the field of nutrition and dietetics

The role
Senior Dietician
(0.6WTE, Specified Purpose)
St Patrick’s Mental Health Services seeks a Senior Dietician to cover a leave absence. The main purpose of the role is to provide a comprehensive Clinical Nutritional Dietetic service to SPMHS including clinical services and catering department.
The Senior Dietician will report to the Dietetics Manager/Programme Manager.

Location
This position is based on site at; St Patrick’s Hospital, James’s Street, Dublin 8, incorporating St Patricks Hospital Lucan and all SPMHS Dean Clinics.
Responsibilities
* To provide a comprehensive dietetic service to the eating disorder service (initially)to include the following:
* Nutritional Assessment of referred service users from within St Patricks Mental Health Service
* Formulation of Nutritional Plans for each referred service user in consultation with Multidisciplinary Team (MDT)
* Liaison with MDT in relation to service user progress
* Attend MDT meetings as required
* Documentation of nutritional plan agreed with service user
* To liaise with Catering Department on dietetic requirements for service users as required
* To develop a discharge nutritional plan with the MDTs and service users to facilitate a transition into home/community environment
* To liaise with other colleagues and external agencies as appropriate in relation to discharge plans for service users
* To deliver group based nutritional advice to service users
* Provide cover to the Eating Disorder Service MDT and provide specialist interventions for those service users with eating disorders
Other Duties
* To develop and implement nutritional plans based on established standards of practice for St Patrick’s Mental Health Services
* To develop health promoting approach to nutrition in collaboration with Catering Department across the organisation
* To provide nutritional educational programmes as agreed with the Dietetics Manager, Programme Manager or Director of Services based on identified service user needs
* To evaluate outcomes of the nutritional intervention outcomes of the dietetic service provided
* To work with the Catering Department in developing and reviewing the ED service menu options
* To analyse the calorie content of the standard menus used and to adapt recipes as required
* To compile and maintain statistics in relation to individuals treated by Dietician within St. Patrick's Mental Health Services and provide fortnightly report to the Dietetics Manager on service provided
* To maintain service user, staff, and hospital confidentiality in accordance with hospital policy
* To disseminate information to service users and staff, designed to improve their knowledge and skills about nutrition
* To identify and procure appropriate Nutritional educational material and resources for relevant nutritional educational programme
* To liaise with other colleagues and external agencies as appropriate in relation to service developments
* To provide information on clinical dietetic activities to management team
* To engage in regular clinical supervision with designate Clinical Supervisor
* To engage in continual professional development
* To develop the roles and responsibilities of the Dietician as agreed with management and in line with the Hospital’s strategy
* To assume all other duties relevant to the role as may be required from time to time

Terms and Conditions
Tenure: 0.6WTE, Specified Purpose contract.
Working Week: Thestandard hours applying to theses position is 21 hours per week.
Salary: The salary for the position is based on the Senior Dietician 2025 pay scale (€63,009 - €74,586) pro rata and is commensurate with experience.
Annual Leave The annual leave associated with the position is depending on post-qualification experience.
Pension: All pensionable staff become members of the pension scheme after successful completion of probation. The scheme is a defined contribution scheme with a deduction from the salary of the employee of 4%. In respect of an internal appointment being made the individuals existing pension arrangements will continue.
Probation: The appointee will be appointed in a probationary capacity for the first six months during which time the job holder’s performance will be subject to ongoing review.
Any extension to or suspension of the period of probation will be in line with the European Union (Transparent and Predictable Working Conditions) 2022.
Health: The appointee must be fully competent and capable of undertaking the duties attached to the position and be in a state of health such as would indicate a reasonable prospect of ability to render regular and efficient service.
Character: The appointee must be of good character.
Retirement Age: Normal retirement age for employees is 66 years which at present is also normal pension age.
