We are now seeking a Health, Safety & Environmental (HSE) Manager to lead our safety culture and ensure compliance across all operations. This is a key leadership role, responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining robust HSE standards that support our commitment to excellence, sustainability, and employee wellbeing.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide leadership and guidance across the organisation to promote a strong and positive Health & Safety culture.
* Develop, implement, and maintain site Health & Safety compliance programmes aligned with company objectives and regulatory requirements.
* Monitor and report H&S performance metrics for all sites.
* Ensure all policies, procedures, and Safety Statements meet current legal and regulatory standards.
* Lead thorough incident and accident investigations, including root cause analysis and corrective action implementation.
* Coordinate and oversee safety and ISO 14001 environmental audits in collaboration with relevant managers.
* Review, update, and deliver safety induction programmes for employees, visitors, and contractors.
* Conduct regular inspections of safety systems, equipment, and work practices.
* Develop and deliver a comprehensive HSE training strategy across all departments.
* Maintain awareness of emerging legislation, standards, and best practices in the EHS field.
* Represent Kilkenny Limestone during external audits and inspections, including liaising with the Health & Safety Authority and other agencies.
* Establish and lead the site Health & Safety Committees, ensuring effective communication and follow-up actions.
* Collaborate closely with Site and Senior Management to ensure alignment of HSE goals and initiatives.
* Conduct and update risk assessments, developing preventive and corrective measures as required.
* Maintain and review the site Emergency Response Plan and ensure it is up to date.
* Ensure that all equipment and processes are compliant with relevant safety and environmental legislation.
* Oversee compliance with Occupational Hygiene monitoring programmes and local planning authority conditions.
* Continuously improve HSE programmes through data analysis, audits, and stakeholder feedback.
* Provide expert guidance and support to all departments on Safety and Environmental issues.
Key Requirements
* Level 8 degree in Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) or a related field.
* Strong knowledge of EHS legislation, standards, and environmental management systems (ISO 14001 experience desirable).
* Proven leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills with the ability to influence and engage at all levels.
* Previous experience in a manufacturing, construction, or quarrying environment (or comparable industry).
* Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities with a hands-on approach.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office and related applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, databases, email).
* Demonstrated ability to drive continuous improvement in safety and environmental performance.
