PE Global is recruiting for a Senior Substation Design Engineer on behalf of our power generation client in Dublin. This is an initial 12-month contract, hybrid role.
Position Description
Senior substation designer with high level of competence in primary and secondary design and a background in GIS stations. Successful applicant will be part of a substations design team within the GIS Substations Section of Networks Stations Design in Networks Engineering.
Key Responsibilities
The key responsibility of the role is to provide high quality designs, safety coordination and act as the Lead Engineer on a diverse range of electricity transmission and distribution development projects. This includes:
• Overall responsibility for leading and delivering substation designs, design meetings and all programme deliverable, budgetary and quality requirements
• Provide design review support on EPC or Design and Build Delivered projects
• Providing technical support to colleagues in the area of substation design, meetings and ensuring the verification of designs issued within the group
• Management and coordination of technical, commercial and financial aspects of the project with all internal and external stakeholders
• Overall responsibility for safety as Project Supervisor Design Stage (PSDP). Preparation & review of design risk assessments and project H&S plans for design & construction teams
• A strong work ethic with a clear focus on delivering results within a tight time frame whilst ensuring the safety and quality of the project is not impacted
• The ability to manage and coordinate inputs from a range of engineering disciplines and key stakeholders, to act as the Lead Engineer on a number of projects.
Knowledge, Skills and Experience
Essential
• Either level 8 in Electrical Engineering or equivalent work experience is essential
• 7 years' plus relevant experience in a wide range of GIS substation design including transmission and distribution substations.
• A strong understanding of all elements of substation tendering and tender evaluations, scoping, planning, design, costing, construction and commissioning.
• Design review experience on EPC and Design and Build delivered projects.
• Strong project management and contract management skills and knowledge
• Experience in control & protection systems, auxiliary power systems (AC/DC), power transformers and or reactors.
• Full drivers licence and access to a car.
• The demonstrated ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple priorities.
Desirable
• PSDP Competency (or CDMC equivalent).
