Overview
A Data Centre Architect is responsible for the end‑to‑end design, planning, and governance of data center infrastructure—including compute, storage, network, security, and facilities. The role ensures high availability, scalability, performance, and compliance while aligning with business and digital transformation goals (e.g., hybrid cloud, modernization). It demands strategic and technical leadership bridging infrastructure, cloud, and business needs.
Responsibilities
Own DC architecture roadmap; design scalable, secure, HA infrastructure; align on‑prem & hybrid with business goals.
Define standards: VM provisioning, patching, vulnerability management.
Design SCOM monitoring ecosystem, implement proactive alerting & noise reduction, enable full stack observability.
Define Rubrik backup policies & SLAs; implement immutable backups & DR plans.
Lead DC exit, consolidation & modernization; drive migration governance & stakeholder alignment.
Embed Zero Trust principles; ensure patching, vulnerability fixes & RBAC.
Capacity planning, optimize resources, licensing & infra costs.
Your Profile
Hybrid & Cloud: On‑prem integration with Azure, AWS, GCP.
DR & BCP: DR strategies, failover models, RPO/RTO aligned to SLAs.
Security & Compliance: Zero Trust, encryption, ISO 27001, PCI‑DSS.
Automation & IaC: Terraform, Ansible, PowerShell, Python.
Capacity & Performance: Forecasting, optimization, performance tuning.
Vendors & Stakeholders: RFP/PoC leadership, cross‑team collaboration.
SDDC: VMware NSX, vSAN, software‑defined networking & storage.
Green DC: Energy efficiency & sustainability practices.
AI/ML Infra: GPU, HPC environments for AI workloads.
Monitoring & Observability: AIOps, predictive analytics, tools (Dynatrace, AppDynamics).
Migration & Transformation: DC consolidation, relocation, cloud migration.
FinOps: Cost governance for infra & hybrid cloud.
