Job Title: Senior Occupational Therapist
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior Occupational Therapist to join our team in providing exceptional care to older adults with cognitive, physical, and mental health needs.
The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering occupational therapy interventions, conducting comprehensive assessments, and developing compensatory strategies to support autonomy and participation in meaningful activities. They will also work closely with the community later life psychiatry OT team to facilitate discharge planning and contribute to the development of the OT service.
Key responsibilities include:
* Delivering occupational therapy interventions to older adults with complex needs.
* Conducting comprehensive assessments with a focus on functional ability, cognitive function, and daily living skills.
* Developing and implementing compensatory strategies that support autonomy and participation in meaningful activities.
* Completing specialist seating assessments and interventions for clients with complex needs.
* Facilitating individual and group-based programs within the inpatient environment.
* Supporting the discharge planning process in close collaboration with the community later life psychiatry OT team.
* Contributing to the development of the OT service, engaging in clinical audit, and supporting best practice initiatives.
Required Skills and Qualifications
Essential requirements include:
* BSc or MSc in Occupational Therapy or equivalent qualification recognized by CORU.
* CORU registration is essential.
* Strong interest in working with older adults in a mental health context.
* Confidence in delivering compensatory and enabling interventions.
* Collaborative and person-centered approach to care planning and rehabilitation.
* Experience or interest in seating and positioning interventions.
* Collaborative recovery-oriented and person-centered approach.
* Excellent clinical reasoning, communication, and documentation skills.
