Job Description
Holbein Carpentry & Joinery is a third generation, family run business, which has seen continued and impressive growth and expansion over the past number of years.
We strive to produce high quality and timeless bespoke joinery by developing our customer's vision through adaptive design.
The suitable candidate will be joining our enthusiastic and hard-working team, based in the beautiful and vibrant town of Kenmare, with an option for a hybrid role following a period of training at our offices.
The ideal candidate will translate architectural drawings and client specifications into practical, build-ready designs using CAD/CAM software, specifically SolidWorks with Swood plugin.
You will play a critical role in the production process by creating detailed working drawings and CNC machine files coordinating with the manufacturing team and ensuring compliance with building regulations.
Key Responsibilities
Interpret and document design specifications, instructions, and meeting outcomes with the Project Manager.
Translate architectural drawings into practical, buildable joinery designs that meet client requirements and building regulations.
Create 3D models and 2D technical drawings using Swood for SolidWorks.
Prepare and issue working drawings with automatically produced CAM files for the manufacturing team.
Liaise with workshop/manufacturing staff during handover to ensure accurate translation of designs into production.
Revise designs and drawings in response to client, architect, or production feedback.
Address limitations of materials, technologies, and joinery techniques during the design process.
Stay current with developments in CAD software, woodworking techniques, and material technologies.
Select appropriate materials using available databases and knowledge of their properties and performance.
Requirements
Degree in related field (preferred)
Bachelor's or Certifications (preferred)
Carpentry Experience/ Woodwork experience (Preferred)
Minimum 5 years working in a professional environment
2+ years experience utilizing 3D CAD software (preferred)
Excellent attention to detail
Flexibility and ability to work on own initiative as well as part of a team
Excellent communication and organisation skills
Very good IT skills: MS Word, Excel, Outlook etc.
Be fluent in English both verbal and written
Ability to think in a three-dimensional manner
You should be able to:
Use Swood
make corrections and recommendations
be able to maintain a record of all designs in the database.
