PE Global Healthcare is seeking Dental Nurses in the Clare/Limerick area. The successful candidate will place dental nurses in public and private hospitals.
Note: All dental nurses must have a degree in Dental Nursing for this position and reside and work in Ireland.
1. To support dental surgeons/orthodontists, hygienists at chairside by preparing and laying out instruments for all dental procedures.
2. To manage appointments for the clinic and record/chart notes as directed by dental surgeons/orthodontists and hygienists.
3. Maintain accurate written and electronic nursing records and reports regarding patient care in accordance with local/national/professional guidelines.
4. To provide a welcoming point of first contact for members of the public, particularly when greeting parents and children in the waiting room and address any queries.
5. To participate in ongoing training programs at the direction of the dental service.
6. To take part in oral health promotion activities at the direction of the Principal Dental Surgeon.
7. Provide education and information to patients/families as appropriate.
8. Maintain a high standard of professional behavior and be accountable for their practice.
9. Respect and maintain patient privacy, dignity, and confidentiality.
10. Report and consult with senior clinical staff on clinical issues as necessary.
11. Be flexible in working hours to meet dental nursing resource needs and service requirements.
12. Ensure the dental surgery is maintained in good order, supplies are adequate, and equipment is clean and functioning properly.
13. Ensure equipment safety and report malfunctions promptly.
14. Aware of responsibilities to own and others' health and safety at work.
15. Participate in implementing infection prevention and control guidelines.
16. Adhere to national, regional, and local Health Service Executive (HSE) guidelines, policies, protocols, and legislation.
17. Work within scope of practice and develop/maintain competence necessary for professional practice.
18. Aware of ethical policies and procedures relevant to their area of practice.
19. Safeguard and manage records according to HSE/local policy and relevant legislation.
20. Contribute to monitoring, audit, and evaluation of the service as required.
21. Participate in developing policies, procedures, and guidelines to ensure compliance with current legal requirements for safe storage and administration of medicines and other clinical products.
22. Report and consult with senior dental staff on clinical issues as necessary.
23. Active participant in staff meetings and all aspects of service delivery.
24. Accurately record and report complaints to appropriate personnel according to local service policy.
25. Observe, report, and take action on matters detrimental to patient care or well-being.
26. Aware of and comply with principles of clinical governance, including quality, risk, and health and safety, and be individually responsible for clinical governance, risk management/health and safety issues in their area of work.
27. Adhere to organizational dress code.
28. Complete mandatory training as deemed necessary by the line manager.
29. Participate in performance evaluation/review with their line manager, identifying areas for improvement and plans/measures to achieve them.
30. Work closely with colleagues across services to provide seamless service delivery to clients.
31. Undertake other duties as required by the Principal Dental Surgeon/Senior Dental Surgeon/Senior Dental Nurse.
32. Familiarity with Health Information and Quality Authority (HIQA) Standards applicable to the role and comply with associated HSE protocols for implementing and maintaining these standards as necessary.
33. Support, promote, and actively participate in sustainable energy, water, and waste initiatives to create a more sustainable, low-carbon, and efficient health service.
34. Safeguard and manage records according to HSE/local policy and relevant legislation.
35. Participate in clinical audit and review.
36. Maintain professional standards, including patient and data confidentiality.
37. Assist with ordering supplies as needed and ensure efficient use of consumables.
38. Appointment to this post designates one as a Designated Officer under the Protection for Persons Reporting Child Abuse Act 1998. You will remain a Designated Officer during your appointment to this post or any other post included in the categories specified in the Ministerial Direction. You will receive full information on your responsibilities under the Act on appointment.
