Position Summary:
Allied World is seeking an energetic and detailed minded individual to support our global database operations team. The DBA will be accountable for managing the support operation of production and lower environment databases along with providing expertise and best practices guidance across the board. The position requires an individual who is accomplished in the present but also with an innovative mindset for the future.
Key Responsibilities:
* Plan and manage capacity of database management systems
* Schedule Database patching for production and lower environments
* Plan and strategize backup and DR processes
* Provide audit and governance requirements
* Maintaining detailed technical documentation
* Assist efforts to define database strategy, architecture, standards and procedures to preserve the integrity and security of company data resources
* Troubleshoot database problems and implement corrective measures as required
* Join our Database team as a Sr. DBA and design, implement, and maintain the systems that are instrumental to business function.
* Develop your skills and expand your abilities by working with new systems and software.
Qualifications
Professional Experience / Qualifications
* Must have knowledge of IT concepts such as DB design, DB layout, DB structures, DB stored procedures, DB tables, DB optimization, TCP/IP, IT security concepts and practices
* Experience with Always On configuration, Log Shipping, SQL Audits, SQL Agent Jobs, SQL replication, CMS are critical
* Experience with SQL Query Store, Resource Governor, sp_whoisactive, SQL Server Maintenance solution and sp blitz are important
* Must be an expert in SQL Server along with a good understanding of Oracle and knowledge of Informix, DB2, MongoDB, DynamoDB and any other databases
* Must be a self-starter with a great attitude, not afraid to take the initiative, and work with little supervision.
* Ability to analyze and write business and technical specifications and interact with IT and auditor teams.
* A degree in information technology/computer information systems or related.
* 6 + years of work experience in database support and management.
* Clear understanding of IT Operations, Software Development and Release Management using GitHub.
* Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
* Strong attention to detail with an analytical mind and outstanding problem-solving skills.
* GitHub, ServiceNow, Jira, MS Office, SQL, etc.
* SCCM for SQL server patching is a big plus
* Skills in SSAS, SSIS are highly desirable
* Azure experience a plus
* Datadog experience a plus
