An opportunity has arisen for a Senior Health & Safety Officer based at our SMARTPLY plant, Belview, near Waterford.
Role:
The Senior Health & Safety Officer will be responsible for leading and delivering all activities related to Health & Safety at the Smartply site. This role will foster a positive Health and Safety culture on site, ensuring compliance with standards, policies, and procedures.
Key Responsibilities:
* Collaborate with all departments to build positive safety relationships and safety cultures.
* Represent the company during external agency audits and inspections, liaising as required with the Health & Safety Authority.
* Coordinate and maintain the Organisation Management System (ISO 45001) as part of the IMS to ensure effective management of Health and Safety matters using site-specific software tools.
* Plan, manage, and complete Health and Safety audits and inspections in line with the audit plan.
* Monitor and measure HSE objectives and targets using internal metrics.
* Champion initiatives to improve the health and safety culture through training and awareness campaigns.
* Manage the risk assessment program.
* Ensure all reports related to incidents, including missed time accidents and dangerous occurrences, are completed and reported to the Health & Safety Authority.
* Manage an annual safety communication plan, including safety meetings, toolbox talks, safety messaging, and notices on screens, as well as safety messaging to subcontractors and suppliers.
* Ensure visitor and contractor safety inductions are completed and compliant.
* Work with teams to embed health and safety processes throughout the organization.
Qualifications & Experience required:
* BSc in Occupational Safety & Health or a recognized safety qualification.
* Minimum of 5 years' experience in Occupational Safety & Health and Welfare.
* Thorough knowledge of current environmental, health, and safety legislation.
* Experience dealing with regulatory bodies.
* Internal auditing experience is advantageous.
* Experience with ISO 45001 standards.

* Strong ability to manage all environmental, health, and safety issues on site.
* Excellent communication and computer skills, with experience in MS Office Suite and H&S/Quality Management Software preferred.
