A leading civil engineering contractor is seeking an experienced Setting Out Engineer to join their team delivering a range of infrastructure projects across Dublin and surrounding areas. This is an excellent opportunity for an engineer with strong surveying and setting out experience to work on major civil engineering schemes within a well‑established and highly regarded contractor.
The successful candidate will play a key role in site delivery, providing accurate setting out and engineering support across roadworks, drainage, utilities, and public infrastructure projects.
Key Responsibilities
Carry out accurate setting out duties using GPS, total station, and laser levels
Interpret drawings, specifications, and site information to ensure correct implementation on site
Support site teams with engineering control and technical guidance
Undertake as‑built surveys and maintain accurate site records and documentation
Liaise with site managers, foremen, subcontractors, and design teams
Monitor and check works for accuracy, quality, and compliance with specifications
Assist in resolving technical issues on site as they arise
Support QA/QC processes and contribute to project reporting
Ensure all works are carried out in accordance with health & safety requirements
Requirements
Degree in Civil Engineering or related discipline
Minimum 2–4 years’ experience in a Setting Out Engineer or Site Engineer role
Strong experience with GPS and total station equipment
Previous experience on civil infrastructure projects such as roads, drainage, or utilities
Irish or UK construction experience is essential
Strong attention to detail and ability to work accurately under pressure
Good communication and teamwork skills
Full driving licence required
